Chainsaw Man is slowly but surely becoming an anime juggernaut, to go along with its status as a shonen manga heavyweight. Initially part of the Weekly Shonen Jump lineup before shifting over to Shonen Jump+, Tatsuki Fujimoto's source material takes place in a world where humans are not only at risk of attacks by Devils, but they can also form contracts with them. Denji's life has been nothing short of awful, and he looks set to die before achieving anything. However, just as he was ready to knock on heaven's door, Denji got a new lease on life by merging with an adorable devil called Pochita, forming Chainsaw Man in the process.
Now recruited into an organization that fights devils, Denji sets out to define himself, while also trying to get laid. Yeah, Chainsaw Man's ambitions are not exactly fueled by justice but rather a desire to enjoy the normal delights that always eluded him. Unfortunately, Denji's new life is not all roses and rainbows, and he does not only have to worry about Devils.
Chainsaw Man: 12 Things You May Not Know About Aki Hayakawa
Here's what fans of the Chainsaw Man series may not know about the stoic and quiet Aki Hayakawa.
Chainsaw Man made the jump into anime in 2022, producing a season that was among the year's best efforts. However, the story is just getting started and has plenty of room to grow and improve. Earlier this year, Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc launched to universal acclaim and success, putting the anime on the same level as shonen heavyweights like Demon Slayer. Let's take a look at some of the most powerful Devils in Chainsaw Man, focusing on the manga.
Updated November 4, 2025, by Mark Sammut: To celebrate the movie's release, this article has been updated with two new entries that are among the strongest Chainsaw Man Devils.
Anime-only fans should be aware that spoilers will be included for future seasons, presuming they are eventually created. The info covers until roughly July 2025 in the manga, and that includes the Reze movie.
31 Future Devil
The Devil Who Dances With Fate
- Contracted Humans: Aki Hayakawa, Two Devil Hunters, Thirty convicts
This devil's contracts remain one of the many out there that cost a lot; known to make contracts that have hunters giving up their lives or body parts, the Future Devil collects based on how much it has foreseen. It's easy to recognize this devil with its usual chant, “The future rules!”, playful demeanor, and gaping hole in its chest.
The Future Devil's main ability involves the contractors having to insert their head into the hole in its chest for the Devil to see into their futures. While its abilities are not for the battlefield, it does grant a large advantage to its contractors, giving them an upper hand during battle.
30 Punishment Devil
The Judgment That Cannot Be Escaped
- Contracted Humans: Michiko Tendo (formerly), Yutaro Kurose (formerly)
Summoned only through expensive contracts and ceremonial rites is the Punishment Devil, known for its fearful execution of justice and punishment in Chainsaw Man. During the Gun Devil arc, Makima, together with other contracted devils and the Punishment Devil, engages in a violent off-screen confrontation against the Gun Devil, forcing it to take the form of a fiend.
Chainsaw Man: The Parallels Between Makima and Nayuta as The Control Devil
As the Control Devil, Makima was a societal menace for her own reasons. Although similar, Nayuta is a reflection of Makima's desires.
This devil's current contractors remain Public Safety Devil Hunters Yutaro Kurose and Michiko Tendo, with the price they paid still unknown. With an appearance of what may be several conjoined humanoid bodies with distorted faces, each carrying a different weapon, the presence of this devil is overwhelming and ominous. Despite its full powers also being unknown, its mere appearance is a sign that punishment will be inevitable.
29 Pain Devil
The Embodiment Of Suffering
- Contracted Humans: Nil
This devil took up human form just so she could satisfy her pain-inflicting obsession without having anyone suspect a thing. Known to be a total nutcase, the Pain Devil became one of the most terrifying devils feared by mankind before having a new division made of both hunters and fiends just to defeat her.
Still, this devil's abilities remain brutal, as she would go to any lengths to inflict as much pain as she can on her victims, refusing to kill them but torturing them to her satisfaction. Her strength, intelligence, and ability to manipulate and torture people still make her feared, so that other devils avoid crossing paths with her.
28 Nail Devil
The Devil-May-Care Companion
- Contracted Humans: Nil
The Nail Devil's main incarnation in the series is that of the mysterious, unnamed Nail Fiend, whose flippant and volatile personality quickly made them stand out as a character. Initially appearing as a partner to Katana Man during his work for Public Safety, they both switch sides to help Asa get Denji out of Public Safety containment.
As with all fiends, the Nail Fiend has enhanced strength and durability, with their speed being especially impressive. Their main weapon is a hammer, which they often use to strike nails into walls or even simply as a blunt weapon. While not every aspect of Nail Fiend's abilities has been seen, it's clear that they are a capable, strong devil.
27 Octopus Devil
Yoshida's Simple Yet Effective Contractor
- Contracted Humans: Hirofumi Yoshida
The Octopus Devil is one of many devils offering contracts to Public Safety, with Hirofumi Yoshida being the only contractor known in the Chainsaw Man series. Its full form has never been seen in the main series, but it is shown to have several massive tentacles whenever Yoshida invokes its powers.
The Octopus Devil has only shown its abilities rarely, and only through the contract between it and Yoshida. Yoshida has used the devil's power to summon tentacles to either attack or defend, as well as fire off a blast of ink to blind his foes. While the Octopus Devil has yet to prove itself as a powerful devil, it also has yet to truly show its full power.
26 Shark Devil
The Hyperactive Fish-Man
- Contracted Humans: Nil
The Shark Devil appears in the Chainsaw Man series as the Shark Fiend, Beam, a Public Safety Devil Hunter from Division 4. A fan of Chainsaw Man, Beam is a reliable ally to Denji during the events of the Public Safety Saga, acting as his partner while Power was out of action.
As the Shark Fiend, Beam's main power is to transform parts of his body into those of a shark. He can even completely turn into a shark, as well as various shark-based powers, such as the ability to swim through solid objects and an enhanced sense of smell.
25 Violence Devil
The Paragon Of Unleashed Power
- Contracted Humans: Nil
The Violence Devil appears as the Violence Fiend Galgali, a member of Public Safety's Division 4. Due to his extreme power, Galgali is forced to wear a mask that constantly emits poison, which weakens him slightly. Though he is the embodiment of violence, he is a surprisingly kind and amicable fellow who gets along with others easily.
As the Violence Fiend, Galgali's physical combat abilities are incredibly powerful, matching the power of true Devils even though he incarnates as a weaker Fiend. His specialty is hand-to-hand combat, and he can transform parts of his body into his true form for even more power.
24 Zombie Devil
The Infectious Plague
- Contracted Humans: Various Yakuza
The Zombie Devil gains the distinction of being the first devil that Denji defeated as Chainsaw Man. Having made a contract with the yakuza that employed Denji to kill devils, the Zombie Devil has an extreme hatred for Devil Hunters and hopes to kill any he finds.
The Zombie Devil turns humans into zombies, even those who are contracted to receive his power. Humans who are bitten by zombies become zombies themselves, which can turn even one zombie into a deathly situation. While the Zombie Devil himself can do little in battle, his power to turn humans into zombies is incredibly potent.
23 Spider Devil
The Silent Slaughterer
- Contracted Humans: Nil
Though Princi appears to be a Fiend due to her human-like appearance, her spider legs reveal her true identity as the Spider Devil. Princi is a member of the Public Safety Division and is a Devil that is surprisingly loyal to Makima. While her role in the story is fairly small overall, her capabilities in combat cannot be underestimated.
Princi's powers are related to spiders, allowing her to climb walls and submerge and emerge from the ground. Her main mode of attack is her spider legs, which can easily impale a foe with a single attack. She can also use her zipper to summon Makima to wherever she is, though whether she can do the same for anyone else isn't currently known.
22 Blood Devil
Master Of Blood Weaponry
- Contracted Humans: Denji
The Blood Devil appears in the Chainsaw Man manga as the Blood Fiend, Power, one of the main characters of the first part of Chainsaw Man. An eccentric woman with a lack of impulse control and a misanthropic personality, Power quickly becomes one of Denji's closest friends, stirring up a sibling-like relationship.
As the Blood Fiend, Power can control her blood and use it to create weapons such as scythes, hammers, spears, and more. She can store her blood as well and use it to create weapons without having to deplete her body's blood. Furthermore, while all Devils can drink blood to heal and restore their strength, Power can gain even more power from drinking other Devils' blood, and even resurrect herself from very small amounts of blood.
