When you start playing Visions of Mana for the first time, the game will ask you to choose the difficulty you want to play. There are four difficulty levels in Visions of Mana: Beginner, Easy, Normal, and Hard.
If you want to know whether you can change difficulty later on in Visions of Mana and what the differences in the difficulties even are, keep reading.
Can You Change Difficulty in Visions of Mana?
To get right into it, yes, you can change the difficulty during your playthrough of Visions of Mana, but you cannot change it during a battle sequence.
It's also worth noting that you cannot alter the difficulty until you get past the prologue of Visions of Mana and gain control of Val, the story's main hero.
To change difficulty, open the main menu and go into the Options. You'll see the difficulty slider underneath the Language Settings in the Game Settings section.
What are the Differences Between Difficulty Options?
As we mentioned in the intro, there are four settings to pick when it comes to the difficulty in Visions of Mana: Beginner, Easy, Normal, and Hard.
Based on our test, it seems that the higher the difficulty, the more damage enemies will inflict on you, and you will also deal less damage with your attacks. So, having the game on Hard mode will take much longer to take down bosses and regular monsters.
Is There a Difficulty Trophy/Achievement for Visions of Mana?
If you're a trophy hunter worried about missing out on a trophy or achievement that's tied to completing the game on a certain difficulty, do not worry. While there is one trophy tied to beating a particular boss on Hard mode, you don't have to play the entire game on Hard for the achievement to pop. The boss in question might be a spoiler, but the name of the trophy/achievement (and boss) can be found below:
The trophy/achievement is called The Spawn of Calamity. To get it, you must beat Aeve Zalaha in hard mode.
For those wondering, there are 45 trophies/achievements for Visions of Mana.
