Whether featuring characters appear for one season like Talia Bishop (Afton Williamson) on The Rookie or stick around longer like some memorable Law and Order characters, the best TV dramas have well-crafted characters with secrets or interesting backstories. Stella Maeve's Chicago P.D. Character Nadia Decotis is one example. Nadia bonds with Erin Lindsay (Sophia Bush) in Chicago P.D. Season 1 and makes an impression on viewers.

What Happened to Nadia On Chicago PD?
Dr. Gregory Yates (Dallas Roberts) killed Nadia Decotis in Chicago P.D. Season 2, episode 20, "Number of Rats," which is still a death that fans think about. When Yates is questioned after Sean Roman and Kim Burgess see him running away from a house that is on fire, where he just killed his latest victim, he says hi to Nadia. It's clear that he is putting his cruel plan in motion at this moment. Every Chicago P.D. Episode feels as scary and realistic as a true crime documentary, and this one is no different.
After talking to Erin Lindsay at a park, Yates abducts Nadia, forces her into his car, and drives Nadia to New York City. After assaulting her, Yates kills Nadia and buries her. It's one of the most brutal moments on Chicago P.D. And one of the most emotional deaths. This moment is so impactful because of the close relationship between Nadia and Lindsay. Nadia was healing from her addiction, working at the Intelligence Unit in administration, and dreaming of becoming a cop. Lindsay is devastated after Nadia's Chicago P.D. Death, especially since she tried to help her.
Matt Olmstead, the Chicago P.D. Showrunner, gave an interview to The Hollywood Reporter about the choice to kill Nadia. Olmstead said it was tough but felt like the right move for the series since it opened up some storytelling possibilities. He said:
“At first I was reluctant because Stella the actress is so great and has been so much for us, but then it became apparent it wasn’t just a quick hit. It gave us definitely a season finale, and it’s going to give us something to come back to and play the beginning of next season. Just looking at what we could get and how it would affect other people and the drama we could get out of it, it was a very tough decision to make.”
Chicago PD's Crossover With Law & Order: SVU
Nadia's death also occurred during the crossover event between Chicago P.D. And Law & Order: SVU which took place in Chicago P.D. Season 2, episode 20 "Number of Rats" and Law & Order: SVU season 16, episode 20, "Daydream Believer." Like the best episodes of Law & Order: SVU, this one is fast-paced, devastating, and dark.
These episodes aired in 2015 and featured Detective Fin Tutuola (Ice T) and Captain Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay) going to Chicago to find Yates, who was based on the terrifying serial killer Ted Bundy. They work with Antonio Dawson (Jon Seda), Jay Halstead (Jesse Lee Soffer), and Hank Voight (Jason Beghe). While this episode may be fiction, Nadia's death is as gruesome and tragic as several true crime TV shows.
