In a game of Civilization 6, building Districts in many cities is always important, as they can be qualified as the lifeblood of a city to be productive for a civilization, especially for the crucial ones such as Campus, Holy Site, Theater Square, and Commercial Hub. These Districts also have several buildings that are each unique to their own, such as a Library for the Campus District.

  • Civilization: Georgian
  • Lower production cost compared to Renaissance Walls and more Outer Defense Strength

Sometimes, while being surrounded by warmongers that happen to be played by capable players or AI with a high difficulty, turtling is the only answer to building up an army to have a counter-invasion after defending against hostile units. Tsikhe, a replacement for the Renaissance Walls, could be the solution.

The unique building of the City Center District allows the Georgian to withstand invasion from the most fearsome warmongering civilizations. It can also be built fairly quickly thanks to the lower production cost of the building.

5 Basilikoi Paides

Keeping Up Warmongering Ambition While Progressing Scientifically

An image of Civilization 6: Basilikoi Paides
  • Civilization: Macedonian
  • After building a non-civilian unit, gain Science equal to the 25% of the unit's cost

Sometimes, having a warmongering ambition can mean a decline in other parts of a civilization, which include Science and Culture growth due to the focus on military units and buildings buildup. This can result in a defeat if an invasion against the neighboring civilization fails. This can be avoided by having a Basilikoi Paides in every Encampment while playing as the Macedonian.

The unique building allows the Macedonian to keep up with Science as every unit produced will grant +25% Science of its production cost. In turn, this also encourages the Macedonian to be as aggressive as possible, since unit training will translate into technological advancement.

4 Madrasa

Gain Both Faith And Science With A Campus Building

An image of Civilization 6: Madrasa
  • Civilization: Arabian
  • Gain bonus Faith equal to Adjacency science bonus of the Campus, and can be unlocked with Theology instead of Education

It is not uncommon to see Science Districts and Building giving bonuses to other yields such as Culture or Faith, since it enables a civilization to be adept in multiple fields rather than just one. However, Arabian's Madrasa enables such multiple focus as it allows a Science district to generate both Science and Faith per turn, making them able to unlock technologies much faster.

Moreover, the building is unlocked via Theology instead of Education, making the Arabian able to acquire a University-equivalent building much faster than anyone else in the game.

3 Prasat

Boost Chances Of Gaining Culture Victory Tremendously

An image of Civilization 6: Prasat
  • Civilization: Khmer
  • Grant +0.5 Culture per population in the city, and grant 10 Tourism for 10-19 Population, and 20 Tourism for 20+ Population after Flight is researched

Having a huge amount of Culture per turn is essential for a player that is aiming for a Culture Victory, in addition to a huge amount of Tourism generated as well. Both can be achieved by Khmer's unique building which replaces the Temple in the Holy Site District, the Prasat.

Aside from generating bonus Faith per turn similar to the replaced Temple, Prasat also grants 0.5 Culture per turn for every population in the city, which can translate to 5 Culture per turn for a city with 10 population. Coupled with the Tourism bonus that it gives, Khmer will be able to gain a Culture Victory rather easily as its city's population growth is also quite rapid.

2 Marae

Gain Huge Amount Of Culture And Faith Via Passable Features

An image of Civilization 6: Marae
  • Civilization: Maori
  • Gain 1 Culture, Faith, and 1 Tourism for every tile with a passable feature (Tourism bonus enabled after researching Flight)

Aside from Culture and Tourism, Faith is also quite important for every player who wishes to win a Culture Victory as it enables them to buy the coveted Naturalist to build National Parks to boost Tourism. Maori can produce these yields rather quickly thanks to Marae, a replacement of the Amphitheater in the Theater Square District.

Marae can produce a multiple yield of Culture, Faith, and Tourism as long as there is a yield with a passable feature. This makes it important for the Maori to preserve these natural features at all costs.

1 Palgum

A Strong Replacement For Water Mill

An image of Civilization 6: Palgum
  • Civilization: Babylonian
  • Grant +2 Production instead of Food
  • Grant +1 Food for all tiles adjacent to a source of Fresh Water

As a Science-oriented civilization, Babylonia is often thought to be unable to grow cities well past its potential due to the lack of growth bonuses similar to the Khmer. However, thanks to Palgum, a unique replacement to the underrated Water Mill, all Babylonian cities will be able to grow quickly thanks to the building bonuses.

The first bonus which increases Production instead of Food is crucial for the city to have a passable Production rate to produce important buildings. Moreover, the Food bonus is now more attainable by having it depend on all tiles that are adjacent to a source of Fresh Water, instead of only relying on local bonus resources improved by Farms for the normal Water Mill.
