Summary
- Accessories called Pictos in Clair Obscur provide passive abilities, turning into Lumina after enough battles.
- Pictos like Augmented Aim and Attack boost damage in battles, enhancing basic attacks and Free Aim attacks.
- Pictos like Cleansing Tint and Critical Burn offer unique benefits like healing status effects and increasing Burned enemy damage.
Instead of armor to equip in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, players can find accessories called Pictos. When a character equips a Picto, they will gain a passive ability. Once enough battles are fought, that Picto will turn into a Lumina that all characters can then use as long as they have enough Lumina Points accrued.
How Long to Beat Clair Obscur Expedition 33 (& How Many Acts Are There?)
Here's a guide on how long it should take most players to see the credits in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33.
There are a lot of Pictos to find in the early hours of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 and without a dungeon map, it can be hard to find them all. This guide will stick mostly to Spring Meadows and Flying Waters for now as that will take up a significant portion of Act 1.
7 Augmented Aim
Free Aim Attacks Are 50% Stronger
- Location: Flying Waters
In battle, most characters have three actions they can take. Free Aim allows characters to use a ranged attack, like Gustave’s gun, to target enemies and some even have weak points that can strike critically.
The
Augmented Aim Picto will boost damage from Free Aim attacks which is a basic upgrade for RPG gear and it can be found lying around Flying Waters. Marking Shots is another good Picto for Free Aim attacks as there is a chance to inflict the Marked status effect. Marked targets will take more damage as dictated by a giant bullseye over their icon.
6 Augmented Attack
Basic Attacks Are 50% Stronger
- Location: Spring Meadows (Fight Chromatic Lancelier Optional Boss)
Another technique characters can perform in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is a basic attack like from Gustave’s swords. The
Augmented Attack Picto like the previous one will boost attack power but for these basic strikes.
All Party Members in Clair Obscur Expedition 33 (& When They Unlock)
You will gain access to five different playable characters in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, and here's what you need to know about when they unlock.
Players can get this Picto in Spring Meadows but they have to fight Chromatic Lancelier first which is an optional boss. Basic attacks are not flashy but they are necessary to help gain AP which is used for spells. Staggering Attack is another Picto that can enhance basic attacks by adding Break damage.
5 Augmented Counter 1
Parries Are 25% Stronger
- Location: Flying Waters (Fight Bourgeon Optional Boss)
There are two phases in battle which should be obvious for turn-based RPG veterans. On the enemy's turn, players don’t just have to take damage from them as they can choose to Parry or Dodge attacks. Dodging an attack will bypass damage completely and restore AP while Parried attacks will also negate damage along with return damage to the attacker.
The
Augmented Counter I Picto can boost counter damage done by Parries. Players can find this Picto in Flying Waters but they have to fight an optional boss, Bourgeon, who is quite tricky as it can swallow party members during battle.
4 Cleansing Tint
HP Potions Can Also Heal Status Effects
- Location: Spring Meadows
The
Cleansing Tint Picto can be found lying around in Spring Meadows. It’s not a reward for defeating the first story boss, Eveque, but players shouldn’t have a hard time tracking it down as they exit this first major dungeon area either.
There are three types of potions, or Tints, players can use in battle that recharge at safe points called Expedition Flags similar to flasks in various Dark Souls games. There is a healing option that just focuses on restoring HP but Cleansing Tint will make healing potions also cure status effects like Burn. It saves the need to use two separate tints at once in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33.
3 Critical Burn
Burned Enemies 25% More Likely To Take Cristal Damage
- Location: Spring Meadows
Speaking of Burn, most RPG fans probably know what that status effect does if they played games like Pokemon or Final Fantasy. Some fire-based attacks in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 can cause Burn which will force enemies to take fire damage over time.
The
Critical Burn Picto will add the chance for Burned enemies to take critical damage. Lune is the equivalent of a mage in the group who has a whole plethora of fire-based attacks. That’s why Critical Burn would be a good Picto to give her or Maelle who also has a lot of fire-based attacks. The Picto can be found in Spring Meadows.
2 Dead Energy 2
Gain Three AP Upon Defeating An Enemy
- Location: Spring Meadows
Every spell or special attack in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 has an associated AP cost. Players can gain AP by using Dodge or by attacking with basic strikes as previously covered. The
Dead Energy II 2 Picto will add another way to gain AP as defeated enemies will generate three AP on the spot.
All Music Record Locations in Clair Obscur Expedition 33
Players who want to earn the Connoisseur achievement in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 can find the locations of 33 music records detailed here.
This Picto can be found around Spring Meadows if players search hard enough for it along the few paths they can take. Additionally, players may want to consider Dodger, as it can generate one AP if players pull off a Perfect Dodge.
1 SOS Shell
Defense Boosts At Half Health
- Location: Spring Meadows
The SOS Shell Picto is the final one worth mentioning, unsurprisingly located in Spring Meadows. Most optional bosses in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, like Mime, are tough as nails. Sometimes they can one-shot characters in battle or darn near close to it.
That’s why players need every advantage they can get beyond grinding for EXP. SOS Shell will cast Shell on the equipped character if they fall to hand health and Shell is a spell that will raise Defense normally.
