Summary

  • Healing skills in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 are essential for survival and come in various forms for each character.
  • Each character has unique healing abilities that can be upgraded for more effective use in combat.
  • Utilizing healing skills strategically can be crucial for success, especially in challenging battles or against optional bosses.

Like a Soulslike game, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 has a limited number of ways players can heal in the game. Players can use potions called Tints in battle, and there’s a healing flask that will cure the party outside of battle. If they rest at Expedition Flags or sleep in camps, then these items will regenerate.

7 Common Mistakes To Avoid In Clair Obscur Expedition 33

Players can easily fall into these common pitfalls in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. Here's what to avoid for the best gameplay experience.

Players can increase the potency of Tints and the number of charges in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, but more importantly, every character in the game has at least one healing spell. Are they all good, or does one character excel above the others? Either way, let’s rank these healing skills based on their usefulness in combat.

7 Healing Light

Heal HP And Status Effects For One Ally

  • Character: Lune

The Healing Light skill is one of the first skills players will probably unlock with Lune in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. It can heal one ally’s HP and also restore status effects, and Lune can use it on herself, too. It’s a basic healing skill for a mage in an RPG, and there’s no use complaining about it.

Healing Light may not be exciting, but it’s cheap to use based on the AP cost and will save players from using too many Tints in battle.

6 Harvest

A Normal Attack Spiced With Healing

  • Character: Sciel

The Harvest skill is a bit more exciting as its base functionality is an enhanced attack from Sciel’s weapon. It will also heal Sciel in the process, and the amount that generates is based on how many Foretell cards she has stacked.

With six battle-ready characters, who among them reigns supreme in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33?

4

Sciel can be described as a tarot master, as every skill in her repertoire will generally be Sun or Moon-based and also generate Foretell. She’s a bit hard to get used to compared to other characters, but if players give Sciel a good build around generating Foretell, then they can make Harvest a lot stronger for her.

5 From Fire

Heal If Enemy Is Burned

  • Character: Verso

The From Fire skill will typically not heal Verso, as like Sciel’s Harvest, it’s a basic special attack. However, if an enemy is Burned, one of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33’s many status effects, then From Fire will also heal Verso.

Generally, unless an enemy can absorb Fire-based damage, using Burn on enemies is the quickest way to victory via using skills from Lune or Maelle. This means From Fire should always be able to heal Verso, but otherwise, Verso can also heal his HP and remove status effects with his Perfect Recovery skill.

4 Pelerin Heal

Cast Regen On Allies

  • Character: Monoco

Monoco is another tricky character to get used to, like Sciel, as he can learn skills from monsters, and his stats will increase during battle based on a rotating wheel of masks in battle. Besides the wheel of masks, Monoco is generally considered a Blue Mage, like in Final Fantasy games.

Now, one of Monoco’s better learnable skills is called Pelerin Heal, which will cast Regen on the party. Regen will heal the party on every turn, and if Monoco has the Caster Mask on, Pelerin Heal will do better.

3 Phoenix Flame

Burn Enemies And Revive Allies

  • Character: Maelle

The Phoenix Flame skill is a Gradient Attack for Maelle, which is similar to a Limit Break in Final Fantasy games, except all characters share the same meter but not the same skills. This skill can cast a large stack of Burn on an enemy and also revive the party if they die to at least half health, but maybe more.

Players will probably use Tints or Lune’s Rebirth skill more, but there’s no denying that Phoenix Flame is the better revival skill on a technical level. Players will hopefully never be tossed into a corner with Maelle as the sole survivor, but Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is a tough game with many challenging optional bosses, so it’s best to be prepared for any situation.

2 Typhoon

Deal Ice Damage To All Enemies And Heal Allies On Each Turn

  • Character: Lune

The Typhoon skill is a masterclass ability on both an offensive and defensive level for Lune. It will cast a strong wave of ice magic to hit all enemies, which will also heal the party marginally in the process, but that’s not all.

Leveling up Attributes in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is the best way to improve each character's stats, and these are the ones to focus on.

For a set amount of time, enemies will continue to take ice damage, and the party will be healed. It’s like a better version of Regen via Monoco’s Pelerin Heal skill, except that Typhoon can also do damage. Lune has another group healing skill, Revitalization, which also casts Regen, but it’s too basic of a White Mage-like skill to recommend.

1 Tree Of Life

Heal HP And Status Effects For All

Tree Of Life in Clair Obscur Expedition 33
  • Character: Lune

The Tree of Life skill is another Gradient Attack, and this one belongs to Lune. It’s not surprising that Lune has the best healing spells in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 overall, as she is the mage of the party, or it's more like Lune is a Sage in an RPG, as she excels in both offensive and defensive magic while being a bit weak physically.

Tree of Life will heal the party a great deal and will remove status effects. It’s a good one to bank up when players need a stronger heal than Typhoon’s continued regeneration magic, which is why all other Gradient Attacks are kind of not needed, except if Maelle is left alone or if players have to fight a battle solo with a random character.
