Best Lune Build in Clair Obscur Expedition 33

Players can build Lune in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 as a reliable healer or powerful DPS; here's how to build Lune.

Lune has quickly become a fan favorite, and part of the draw to her is her kit. A mage at heart that makes use of all the elemental powers possible, players can turn her into a spell-slinging carry or go for a more supportive route, thanks to her insane healing spells. Each skill and each build is centered around the weapon chosen, and Lune has plenty of exceptional choices that transform her powers in new and interesting ways.

Updated September 7, 2025 by Oliver Tuscarny: Clair Obscur has been out for quite a while, and players are continuing to find new and exciting builds for every one of the characters. Lune continues to be a mainstay in many players' parties, and since launch, she has remained virtually untouched aside from some bug fixes relating to her Thermal Transfer skill.

With that said, more unique combinations are being tried and tested every day, from supportive healing options to carry mage builds. For players who really like to try new things, Lune remains one of the best characters in terms of build variety and options, as almost every one of her weapons has its own specific niche and place throughout the playthrough.

11 Trebuchim

Full-Powered Abilities In A Single Turn

  • Element: Lightning
  • Trebuchim

Level 4

Generate a random Stain on Free Aim shot.

Level 10

+1 AP when Stains are consumed.

Level 20

Base Attack generates 2 random Stains.

One of the most important mechanics with Lune is managing her stains in conjunction with the AP costs associated with each spell. Not only does the player need to worry about actually being able to cast a spell, but they also have to think about which stains to generate to give them the most power out of them. Trebuchim makes all of that easier, giving both Stains and AP by doing things the player does in a standard turn anyway.

Lune has no problem firing off a few shots to build up some stains, as most of her spells are pretty low cost anyway, so the lowered AP amount is quickly made up for by the bonuses brought by having multiple stains. The randomness can be a bit awkward at times, but it is still very easy to build up the perfect combo and unleash an elemental attack that few can get back up from.

Level 4

Healing Skills generate one additional 1 Light stain.

Level10

Consuming a Light Stain applies Slow to a random enemy.

Level 20

Base Attack generates a Light Stain.

Lune's playstyle revolves around ensuring she has reliable access to the stains she needs and a way to keep her damage relevant across different situations. Potierim shines here because it doesn’t just add more stains to the mix, but it also rewards Lune for using her core playstyle of weaving spells together, allowing her to reliably cycle through her toolkit, while setting herself up for stronger follow-ups without having to go out of her way.

The secondary effect of slowing enemies means that Lune gets more turns to act, be it using heals or going on the offensive. It does take until Act 3 to be able to acquire it, but the wait is well worth it for a weapon that perfects the cycle mage playstyle.

9 Angerim

Keep Those Burns Coming

Level 4

Base Attack applies 2 Burn per Fire Stain.

Level 10

Generate one Fire Stain at the beginning of each turn.

Level 20

30% increased Burn damage per Fire Stain

Fire damage is incredibly valuable throughout the whole playthrough of Expedition 33, so having a weapon that directly ties into that element in a big way can be incredibly valuable, especially against enemies susceptible to fire. Angerim turns basic burns into devastating scorches that quickly shred through enemy health bars, turn after turn.

'Oblivion Didn't Seem to Hurt Us at All' Clair Obscur Publisher Comments on New Game's Success

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 publisher Kepler Interactive reveals Bethesda’s Oblivion Remastered shadow-drop did not harm the RPG's release.

By

It's a very self-sufficient weapon that plays off its strengths. A new fire stain every turn, that then buffs up the burn, which can then be added once again with a simple basic attack, Lune becomes a blazing mage capable of dishing out significant damage over time and it doesn't take long for enemies to fall thanks to the high tick damage and punishing spells that apply it.

Level 4

Free Aim Shots deal damage to an additional random target.

Level 10

50% increased Free Aim damage.

Level 20

Generate a random Stain on Free Aim shot.

Lune thrives when she can keep her momentum going, and Troubadim gives her exactly that. By generating stains just by Free Aiming, it ensures her turns remain efficient and her spell chains stay online. This reliability makes it far easier to set up the explosive combos that define her playstyle, or use more wild card skills like Mayhem, while still leaving room for utility or healing when needed.

On top of its consistency, Troubadim helps Lune overcome the early stages of the fight by preventing the slow starts that can leave her vulnerable. It becomes available fairly early in Flying Waters, but still functions well into the later stages against enemies with pesky shields or for situations where players just need a bunch of stains all at once.

7 Deminerim

Ride The Wave Of Lightning

  • Element: Lightning
  • Deminerim

Level 4

Lightning Skills cost 1 less AP.

Level 10

20% increased Lightning damage with Skills.

Level 20

Start battle with 1 Fire Stain

Deminerim is one part of an elemental set of weapons that each plays into a specific element type in the same way. In this case, lightning is the focus, with the whole point behind the weapon being to deal as much electric damage as possible, while giving the player stains that naturally buff skills like Thunderfall and allow them to tear through anything in their path.

It's nice to not only have a substantial damage buff that can be very powerful in a specific build, but also to have resources attached to the weapon that let the player keep in the fight for longer. It's a great weapon choice against enemies that are particularly weak to Lightning, and for players looking to take on the persona of the electric wizard they always wanted.

6 Braselim

  • Braselim

Level 4

30% increased Critical Chance per Ice Stain.

Level 10

+5% of a Gradient Charge on Critical hit.

Level 20

20% increased Fire damage with Skills.

Braselim is an interesting weapon that is ideal for players who really like to go big with their skills. In general, Lune's fire skills benefit from Ice Stains, which means that having a weapon that not only has increased fire damage, but can also increase crit chance, can turn Lune into a one-shotting machine that can clear entire groups of enemies in no time.

Skills like Fire Rage are super powerful with this weapon, as the AoE damage quickly ramps up and allows players to spread their damage wide rather than focusing on a single target. The gradient generation is also pretty nice, even if the player decides to use the charges on another character. Braselim is found pretty far into the game at the Monolith, but there are still more than a few opportunities for players to use it before the credits roll.

5 Coralim

It's Getting Chilling In Here

clair obscur expedition 33 Lune Coralim
  • Scaling: Vitality/Defense
  • Element: Ice
  • Coralim

Level 4

Ice Skills cost 1 less AP.

Level 10

20% increased Ice damage with Skills.

Level 20

Start battle with 1 Earth Stain.

Coralim is another element-specific weapon that plays directly into the use of ice spells. Lune can make use of these skills in multiple different ways, for offense like Ice Lance, and even for support with Typhoon. There are multiple options for how to build an ice mage and how to best make use of the added damage and ability to repeatedly cast with no trouble.

The biggest issue that comes with Lune's kit is keeping up consistent Stain generation, while still putting out some decent damage against the enemy. This weapon solves that problem immediately, and specifically for Ice skills, it can be a very useful tool to bring into certain encounters, and turns a simple bout of snow into a full-on blizzard.

4 Lighterim

The Fire That Just Keeps On Blazing

clair obscur expedition 33 Lune Lighterim
  • Scaling: Defense/Agility
  • Element: Fire
  • Lighterim

Level 4

Fire Skills cost 1 less AP.

Level 10

20% increased Fire damage with Skills.

Level 20

Start battle with 1 Ice Stain.

The fiery brother of the other elemental buffers, Lighterim is certainly one of the stronger weapon choices for Lune. Providing a big buff to damage and sustained skill casting, the player will have no problem keeping the damage over time and will have access to stronger spells far earlier into the fight that would otherwise take quite a while to get going.

Clair Obscur Expedition 33 - Things Worth Buying From Merchants (and Things That Not Worth It))
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 - Things You Should Always Buy From Merchants

Exploring the Continent in Expedition 33, players will meet a ton of Gestral traders, who always offer useful items worth buying.

Hell is a great example of a skill that is very potent but normally takes a few turns to pull off. With this weapon, players can feasibly pull it off after just one turn, thanks to the weapon generating an extra ice stain each turn, and suddenly, an encounter that looks as though it could go on for some time, suddenly gets cut short by the blazing onslaught made possible with this weapon.

3 Kralim

Chain Together All The Elements

clair obscur expedition 33 Lune Kralim

  • Scaling: Vitality/Agility
  • Element: Lightning
  • Kralim

Level 4

Casting a Skill increases the Skill damage of all other elements by 20%.

Resets when casting a Skill of a previous element.

Level 10

On turn start, if no Stains, 2 random Stains are generated.

Level 20

+1 AP when Stains are consumed.

A good strategy when playing as Lune is to either decide on a specific elemental type and go full on into that archetype, or to keep options open and build out a more balanced set of skills to take on the multiple threats that await. This weapon plays into the latter, encouraging players to continuously swap between spell types and providing more than enough resources to make that possible.

It's a great weapon that seeks out the most creative and quick-thinking players, and though it can be hard to guarantee that certain spells will go off with full effect, the ability to cast a spell every single turn, combined with an up to 100% buff, makes Kralim an exceptional choice for pretty much any Lune build and is just super fun to use overall.

2 Betelim

Ramping Up The Damage

clair obscur expedition 33 Lune Betelim
  • Scaling: Vitality/Agility
  • Element: Earth
  • Betelim

Level 4

Using a Skill that consumes Stains increases damage by 20%. Can stack up to 5 times. Resets on using a Skill without consuming Stains.

Level 10

On turn start, if no Stains, 2 random Stains are generated.

Level 20

+1 AP when Stains are consumed.

Betelim is a super fun weapon that brings a bunch of strength along with joy. A very similar playstyle to Kralim, where players were able to throw out spells every single turn like it's nothing, only in this case, players are not restricted by needing to swap between different spell types and can instead continue to unleash spells of increasing strengths, just through careful casting alone.

The power truly needs to be experienced firsthand to understand, as the ability to not only deal absurd amounts of damage in just a few turns, but to be able to keep the skills coming despite everything that is thrown at the player, can make the fights feel like a walk in the park as there is pretty much no limit to the amount of spells and level of damage that this one weapon can provide.
