Determining a good combo and build for the expeditioners in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is crucial if players wish to defeat the hard enemies and bosses. However, sometimes, players may want to test their damage simply to have fun. For example, in the Gestral Village, there's a challenge with Ono-Puncho, who asks players to deal 9999 damage to them in one single hit. While this may look like something you can do in the late game, it's actually possible to do while you're progressing in the Gestral Village itself.
Here's everything you need to know about how to deal 9999 damage to Ono-Puncho in Expedition 33 and impress the Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 Gestral.

How To Deal 9999 Damage To Ono Puncho In Expedition 33
Dealing 9999 damage to Ono-Puncho in Expedition 33 can be done easily in the correct setups, but first, players must understand the rules of the challenge:
- You're only allowed to hit Ono-Puncho once
-
Buff Skill like Gustave's
Powerful
is not considered a hit as it doesn't damage the enemy
- Players can use Free Aim Shots before unleashing a Skill/an attack, and it will still be considered as hitting Ono-Puncho once, as long as the Free Aim Shot is done by the same character
Since it's possible to debuff and set up the field before unleashing the "one hit," players can utilize buffing and debuffing abilities to set up their combo. For example, Maelle can take the lead in dealing 9999 damage to Ono-Puncho shortly after winning the tournament, which means players don't have to wander too far from the Gestral Village.
Ono-Puncho only gives a cosmetic as a reward for completing the 9999 damage challenge, so there's no rush to complete this task.

How To Deal 9999 Damage To Ono Puncho Using Maelle
Here's the idea of how to use Maelle to deal 9999 damage to Ono-Puncho in Expedition 33:
- Buff Maelle with Gustave's Powerful Skill
- Use Maelle's Free Aim Shots to place the Mark debuff on the enemy using the Marking Shots Lumina
- Unleash the Percee Skill, which will be enhanced by the Mark debuff
The easiest way to get the 9999 damage is if Maelle uses a weapon called
Medalum that lets her start in Virtouse Stance, giving a 200% damage bonus for the Percee Skill on top of reducing the AP cost to only 2 AP instead of 5 AP. However, to get the Medalum weapon in Expedition 33, players must win using Maelle in the tournament fight against "The Stranger" (Sciel) or duel Golgra at the Chief's House.
Thankfully, this method still works even without Medalum. Any of Maelle's weapons, as long as it has enough Power (around 250), can deal the 9999 damage. Players can also unlock Maelle's Last Chance Skill to enter Virtouse Stance without hitting Ono-Puncho.
Preparing Maelle, Gustave, and Lune
Equip Maelle with the Medalum (or other weapons), and the following Lumina:
-
Marking Shots: 20% chance to apply Mark on Free Aim shot (Must have)
-
Burning Shots: 20% chance to Burn on Free Aim shot (Optional)
-
Critical Burn: 25% increased Critical Chance on Burning enemies (Optional)
-
Roulette: Every hit has a 50% chance to deal either 50% or 200% of its damage (Not required if Maelle uses Medalum or Last Chance, must have without Virtouse Stance)
For her Expedition 33 Pictos, put as much Critical Rate as possible to reduce the number of retries.
Next, ensure the other two members are faster than Maelle or have the
First Strike Lumina. Nothing else is required.

The Battle
Here are the moves players must make to deal 9999 damage to Ono-Puncho using Maelle:
- Use Gustave's Powerful Skill to buff Maelle
- This step is optional with Medalum, but must be done with other weapons: Use Energy Tint on Maelle during Lune's turn to ensure Maelle can keep using her Free Aim Shot until she Marks the enemy
- Free Aim Shot with Maelle until she Marks the enemy. Don't hit again after the enemy is Marked, or else the debuff will disappear
- Use Percee Skill to deal 9999 damage
With Medalum weapon or Last Chance Skill, this method can easily deal 9999 damage, but if you use Roulette Lumina instead of Virtouse Stance, it may take a few tries, especially since there are a lot of RNGs involved. The RNG players must overcome are: the chance of applying Mark without losing too much AP (Maelle needs 5 AP to cast Percee); Roulette Lumina granting the 200% damage to replace Virtouse Stance; and hitting a Crit.
How to Get and Use the Old Key in Clair Obscur Expedition 33 (Old Door Location)
There's a strange, locked door hidden in Old Lumiere, but how does one open it in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33?
If players are a little short on the number, they can consider the following things:
- Increase Maelle's Attributes
- Level up the weapon
- Keep retrying if Maelle isn't hitting a Crit or applying Mark
In the video above, Maelle is level 16 with a level 7 weapon. Her stats distributions are as follows:
- Vitality: 0
- Might: 10
- Agility: 5
