How To Use Chroma Catalyst In Expedition 33

When players first arrive at the Continent in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, players will find an item called a Chroma Catalyst. Its description says that it can be used to upgrade a weapon to level three, but if players head to their inventory, there's no option to use the Chroma Catalyst in Expedition 33.

It takes a while before players can use the Chroma Catalyst, but it will happen naturally as long as the expeditioners follow the main storyline. To be exact, this feature unlocks once players find Maelle at The Manor and try to leave the area, where the Curator will block the way for a little spar.

How To Use Chroma Catalyst In Expedition 33

To use the Chroma Catalyst in Expedition 33, players must first unlock the Curator at the camp. Once he moves to the camp, players can speak to him to improve their expedition resources or upgrade weapons in Expedition 33.

Expedition resources include spending Colour of Lumina for Lumina points, or using Tint shards to upgrade the team's potion bottles.

There are four types of Chroma Catalyst in Expedition 33. In general, here's the amount of Chroma Catalyst that players need to use to improve their weapons:

Every weapon starts at a different level and can be enhanced by getting a duplicate of the same weapon.

How To Unlock The Curator In Expedition 33

The Curator joins the camp after you beat him in a sparring session in The Manor, shortly after finding Maelle in the Flying Waters. Return to the camp to experience a small cutscene of the Curator staying there. Interact with the Curator to use the Chroma Catalyst you get during your Expedition 33 journeys.
