The Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 development team has visited Kojima Productions, leaving fans hoping for a crossover between the breakout RPG and the just-released Death Stranding 2. A crossover between these two game hits would be nothing short of interesting, especially considering that both Death Stranding 2 and Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 are front-runners for Game of the Year.

Hideo Kojima is well known for bringing innovative ideas and concepts to the medium—starting with the Metal Gear franchise, in which he introduced groundbreaking ways to convey meaning through the series’ narrative, incorporating storytelling techniques from the movie industry. Kojima’s distinctive way of designing characters through the game's narrative was further demonstrated in Death Stranding, and later in Death Stranding 2. On the other hand, a new studio called Sandfall Interactive—with only one game under its belt—has already won over players with an RPG that brought together a bunch of different concepts and mechanics, delivering a beautiful story and engaging gameplay. Both Clair Obscur and Death Stranding 2 are shaping up to be some of 2025’s best games—and now, an unexpected encounter between their developers may represent some good news for fans.

Video game director Hideo Kojima has shared a picture on his Twitter account, where he appears with the Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 development team alongside the skull-faced astronaut mascot, Ludens, at Kojima Productions. Unfortunately, neither Kojima nor Sandfall has provided any details about the visit, which only makes the situation more intriguing for fans. In addition to Kojima, the Clair Obscur publisher, Kepler Interactive, has also posted the picture with the caption “Kojima + Sandfall + Kepler.”

Clair Obscur Devs Pay a Visit to Kojima Productions

The photo has naturally sparked excitement among fans, who are hoping that two of the highest-rated 2025 video games might collaborate in some future content update. While a crossover might seem a bit unexpected—especially given how different the games are in terms of setting and genre—it’s undeniably kind of endearing. The Clair Obscur team had already said it was working on developing new content for the game in the future, along with some changes.

Before this development, Kojima had praised the breakout RPG, joining other major figures in the gaming industry who also celebrated Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 after its release. Among them were Naughty Dog’s Neil Druckmann, Doom’s John Romero, and CD Projekt Red’s global community director. While it’s still unclear whether Kojima Productions and Sandfall will join forces, fans are holding their breath for a collab between these two hit games.
