Sandfall’s breakout hit Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 has just gotten a huge upgrade, with the game now supporting Nvidia's DLSS 4 Multi-Frame Generation. Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is considered by many to be a strong contender to secure the 2025 Game of the Year award, and while the game already offers a captivating experience, this upgrade enhances it even more.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 was an immediate success. The RPG took the gaming community by surprise, delivering an impressively well-made game with deeply engaging gameplay and an emotionally resonant journey. But Clair Obscur isn’t just that; it also offers beautiful, jaw-dropping visuals portraying a broken world inhabited by ominous creatures and fantastic beings, alongside a captivating soundtrack that’s the cherry on top of a 2025 Game of the Year contender. Despite all this, it’s true that Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 has suffered from performance issues, with players reporting low FPS in certain areas of the game, prompting the community to come up with temporary solutions—but now Sandfall has tackled the game’s performance head-on.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 update 1.4.0 is already live, and beyond the several quality-of-life improvements and changes that came with the patch, Sandfall has added support for Nvidia's DLSS 4 with Multi Frame Generation, DLSS Frame Generation, and NVIDIA Reflex for the RPG hit. This technology basically enables any GeForce RTX 50 Series and GeForce RTX 40 Series owners to boost Clair Obscur’s performance and take it to the next level, offering smoother gameplay and lower input lag.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 Adds Nvidia DLSS 4 with Multi-Frame Generation Support

There are plenty of games with DLSS 4 Multi-Frame Generation support, and the results of implementing this Nvidia breakthrough feature are impressive, as it’s capable of tripling frames for every traditionally rendered frame. It can help players achieve 4K resolution at 240 FPS with full ray tracing, with some games jumping from merely 30 FPS to 236 FPS. This new technology undoubtedly makes the Clair Obscur experience even more enjoyable.

In addition to DLSS 4 with Multi Frame Generation support, the Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 update 1.4.0 also brought changes and features to streamline gameplay. For instance, after finishing a fight, players will now see a pop-up window that allows them to quickly retry the battle, instead of respawning at the latest checkpoint and having to walk again to where the enemy was located. Changes to combat, accessibility, and achievements have also been made, along with several fixes and environmental polish.
