In Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, there are a lot of random key items you can find on your journey to take down the Paintress, but you might not have an idea of how they're meant to be used or where to use these items. For example, in the early portion of the game, you can get an item called an
Old Key, and if you look in the description, it says that it's used to open an Old Door.
We're going to walk players through how to get their hands on the Old Key and where it's meant to be used in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33.
What are some good RPGs that aren't super complicated?
I've spent a lot of time on Kingdom Come: Deliverence II and it has some great stuff. The story and characters are excellent and they do a really good job bringing Medieval Bohemia to life, and I appreciate the endgoal, but did the developers have to make it so complicated. There's so much to keep track of and it's hard to keep up with everything. Even the most basic combat mechanics are difficult to handle. Basically, what I'm looking for is a game that has the appeals of an RPG (i.e. Exploration, character building, choices that affect the world, interacting with engaging NPCs) but without having a million different stat blocks and complicated mechanics to keep track of. After all, it can be hard to appreciate a great story and worldbuilding if you're constantly distracted trying to keep track of how to hold your sword. If possible, games available for Playstation would be ideal. I am having some success with Atomfall. It's got a lot of the RPG mechanics you'd expect from Fallout
Where's the Old Key in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33?
It's in the Prologue!
Once you head to the harbour and have to speak to some of your expedition mates during the festival, some of the characters will give you Festival Tokens. You will also start with one.
Take your token and speak to the woman in blue named Colette, who is standing in front of the booth on the far right.
She will give you the Old Key in exchange for a
Festival Token, which is used for an old door, but Colette won't tell you where the door is located.
You can get a Festival Token by defeating Maelle at the dock. You can get a third by speaking to Antoine and answering his three questions correctly. The answers are...67, zero, and abilities you internalize.
Where's the Old Door in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33?
This section might be considered spoiler territory, as we will mention a late-game area you will need to travel to as part of the main story of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33.
It turns out that you won't be able to use the Old Key until you reach the Old Lumiere level, which will come up around 10-15 hours into the story. There will be a section where you will be controlling Malle and a character named Verso.

Once you get to this area, travel until you reach the Left Street Rest Point flag. From the flag, head forward on the path, then head towards the right, past the giant sword stuck in the ground. Go through the broken doorway and immediately head towards the right to find a structure jutting out that you can walk across.
You'll see a glowing item on top: a
Polished Chroma Catalyst. However, if you drop into the structure via the hole, you can find a locked old door that requires the Old Key to open.
Open the gate to find the Fracture Survivor journal. This will count towards unlocking the trophy/achievement for Clair Obscur called Follow the Trail.
