If you're a Trophy (or Achievement) hunter, then you might be wondering how to get the 'Peace at Last' achievement in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. The trophy requires players to find and defeat a character named Simon. This guide will show players where to find Simon and provide tips on how to beat him.
It's worth noting that this guide will go into some spoilers for the endgame of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, so please proceed with caution if you're worried about finding out secrets unorganically. Also, Simon is probably the most difficult enemy in the entire game (even harder than all the trials in the Endless Tower), so before you head to face him, it's best to be as prepared as possible with the best Pictos, weapons, and skills for your preferred party. You should be done with the main story at this point.
Simon Location in Clair Obscur Expedition 33
Be Prepared
Utilize Esquie's power of swimming to head to a part of the ocean that's smack-dab in between Sirene and Visages. You'll find a portal that leads to a new map called Renoir's Drafts.
This entrance is unlike others, as there is no actual structure visible on the surface of the water - it will simply be a portal. You can check out the images above to get a better picture.
Once you make your way through Renoir's Drafts (it's not that big of a map!), you will find another portal that leads to The Abyss, and then you can reach Simon and face him in a battle. A very difficult two-phase battle as a matter of fact.
Tips for Beating Simon in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33
Here are some important notes that should help make the fight against Simon less irritating...
- There are two phases. Once you get this initial health bar down to zero, a cutscene will happen, and then a new fight will start.
- If you die in the second phase, you will have to restart the entire battle.
- He has a move that can put any party member's health down to 1.
- He can also remove a fainted party member from the battle, which means you cannot revive them. Once this happens to one or two of your strongest party members, it might be best to just start over at that point.
- In the second phase, some of his moves will be doubled, so the moves you got used to in the first phase will need to be double-parried (you'll see what I mean once you get to the second part). And eventually, that'll increase to three.
- Learning how to parry is a must, but if you must, dodge to be safe.
-
We used a very powerful build for Maelle that involves using her
Last Chance
skill to reduce her health to 1, but refilling her AP to use a strong move, like Stendhal, to do massive damage. Last Chance will put her into the Virtuose Stance, increasing her attack power. You can take advantage of the low health by equipping Pictos that give damage boosts for having low HP in battle, such as
At Death's Door.
-
Use the
Cheater
Pictos on all of your party members to give them a second turn. It costs 40 Lumina Points, but it's a total game-changer.
Reward for Defeating Simon in Clair Obscur Expedition 33
If you manage to get through the fight, you will be rewarded with a new weapon for Verso: the
Simoso. You can also pick up Simon's Journal nearby to get closer to unlocking the Follow the Trail achievement. You can read it if you want some more lore about the wild story of Clair Obscur.
Of course, you'll also nab the 'Peace at Last' achievement for passing the challenge.
