Maelle is one of the main characters in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, the youngest member of the Expedition, voiced by Jennifer English, and the artist’s attention to detail and response to feedback have produced a stunning, life-like figure.
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 has become the hit game of 2025 from French studio Sandfall Interactive, and the turn-based RPG makes use of a pleasing dark fantasy Belle Époque setting to paint the Expeditioners' quest to destroy the unforgiving Paintress. The hit game confidently pays homage to the JRPG genre, including series such as Persona. Another source of inspiration comes from one of Square Enix’s flagship franchises, and fans think that Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 makes a case for Final Fantasy to return to its roots.

The full-body sculpt shows the character in all her glory, posing next to the Expedition 33 flag, wielding a sword, and letting her red hair fly in the breeze. Maelle has several great outfits in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, but the artist stuck with the character’s original Expedition outfit that players can unlock during Act 1. The artist confirmed the final product was refined thanks to player feedback, and in the end, it was decided to give Maelle more “optimistic flair” in her pose.

The video game community was in awe of the artist’s sculpture, and one Redditor hoped Sandfall would later commission the artist to make official figures. Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 offers Maelle a variety of weapons, but one fan wanted to see the figure use the character’s Barrier Breaker sword or Medalum. Nevertheless, most demanded that the artist take their money, so that they could own their Maelle figure.
Despite a high demand for the artist to produce more figures in addition to Maelle, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 may be getting an official plushie as well. The gaming community has been hellbent on asking for an Esquie plushie, desperate to have the towering companion in their living rooms, and Sandfall seems to be considering the idea, while also warning fans of third-party websites selling unofficial plushies in the interim.
