Developer Strange Scaffold's upcoming multiplayer title Co-Op Kaiju Horror Cooking has an interesting concept at the core of its frantic gameplay. The first-person PC game sees players step into the shoes of medieval monks who are tasked with cooking and feeding meals to a set of giant kaiju to prevent the pending apocalypse.
The Best War Games recently saw a preview of Co-Op Kaiju Horror Cooking. The game will be Strange Scaffold's seventh release in the last two years, a feat that is being celebrated by the developer's founder, Xalavier Nelson Jr., who is using the philosophy of making games 'better, faster, cheaper, and healthier.'

In Co-Op Kaiju Horror Cooking, players must work together and follow ancient recipes to appease giant kaijus who appear in the world one at a time, once a year. Each in-game year sees a new kaiju spring up with a new set of needs and ingredients. Players must navigate a mysterious, maze-filled labyrinth while dodging all kinds of supernatural enemies as they hunt for ingredients.
Ingredients can be chopped and cooked using simple things like torches or via more sophisticated methods, depending on what the player has at their disposal at the time. Some kaijus are easily pleased, while others are far more demanding and will see players having to scavenge far and wide to find those missing ingredients. Once the correct recipe has been cooked, the meal can be launched at the kaiju by way of a giant catapult, averting the apocalypse for another year.
Strange Scaffold Has Even More Titles on the Way
As part of the preview, Strange Scaffold also unveiled two more upcoming Steam games. Space Warlord Baby Trading Simulator is described as a fast-paced stock market sim that tasks players with buying and selling stocks based on the lives of simulated alien babies. Truck-kun is Supporting Me From Another World?! Is a vehicular action game inspired by classic anime titles, which sees players driving into objects at high speed in order to help the protagonist who has accidentally been transported to a dangerous medieval world. The more things the player hits, the more useful items, such as health and armor, are sent to the protagonist.
Co-Op Kaiju Horror Cooking launches July 29 on Steam.
