Summary
- Some lethal equipment in Black Ops 6 like the Drill Charge and Blast Trap may not be worth using due to limited success in multiplayer.
- The diverse options, like the Thermo Grenade and Semtex, offer strategic advantages, but players must carefully select what fits their playstyle.
- Lethal equipment like the Impact Grenade and Frag Grenade provide immediate impact, offering players quick kills with precise usage.
Building a loadout in Black Ops 6 goes beyond just selecting a primary weapon, as there are other elements to consider, such as the secondary weapon, perks, and even the wildcard. Perhaps one of the most important choices players must make is their desired lethal equipment, as it can play a critical role in outsmarting and outmaneuvering the competition.
Black Ops 6: Best Tactical Equipment
Black Ops 6 players looking for an extra advantage in combat should rely on the best Tactical Equipment available.
Deciding which piece of equipment is best for each player isn't easy, though. There's a wide variety to select from, and they all have their own strengths and weaknesses. From time-tested grenades to proximity-based mines, players need to carefully decide what lethal weapon is best suited to their own playstyle.
9 Drill Charge
Not Worth The Grind
- Explosive charge that burrows into a surface, exploding on the other side.
- Unlocked at Level 50.
Conceptually, the Drill Charge sounds effective; when deployed, it will attach to any surface and drill through it, before releasing a delayed explosion on the other side. It's intended to flush enemies out of cover or even catch them off guard and kill them before they can escape.
In reality, though, thanks to the fast-paced nature of multiplayer, it's rare that players will find much success with the lethal throwable. Gunfights are typically quick, and enemies tend to move frequently, so it's not often that players will even be given the opportunity to put the grenade to good use.
8 Blast Trap
The Claymore's Unworthy Successor
- Planted explosive device that explodes when enemies are near.
- Unlocked at Level 41.
Claymores are nowhere to be found in this year's Call of Duty, and players have the Blast Trap to work with instead. Unlike the claymore, which instantly explodes when an enemy triggers it, the Blast trap has a minor delay before it detonates. Interestingly, enemies can also bypass it if they creep by slowly enough, though that's unlikely with the frantic pace of matches.
Black Ops 6: Best SMGs, Ranked
CoD: Black Ops 6 features six different SMGs for players to make use of. Here is how they compare to one another.
What makes the Blast Trap slightly underwhelming, especially when compared to the claymores of the past, is the delayed explosion. This gives enemies a chance to escape before it activates, and the likelihood is that they're already sprinting, so it won't be too difficult. It does serve well enough if players are defending a certain area, but it's much less reliable at getting kills than players may expect.
7 Thermo Grenade
Mixing Gas With Fire
- Creates a large fuel-air cloud that explodes after a short duration.
- Unlocked at Level 21.
The Thermo Grenade is a strange mix between a Gas Grenade and a Molotov, as the gas released gets set alight after a short delay. It's great for throwing onto objectives or behind enemy cover, as it flushes them out relatively easily. The damage is decent, too, as any enemy caught directly in the cloud is usually a sure goner.
It is slightly easy for enemies to know where it's safe, though, as the gas cloud that forms gives a clear indication of where the flames will do damage. More often than not, enemies will be able to evade the grenade altogether before it begins to seriously damage them. Once the gas has been lit, the flames die out rather quickly, so there's no chance for lingering damage either.
6 C4
Clunky But Powerful
- Remote sticky explosive with a large explosion radius.
- Unlocked at Level 14.
A lot of the lethal equipment options in Black Ops 6 tend to be simplistic devices that don't need much thought, but the C4 rewards a player who takes the time to carefully plan their attacks. This remotely detonated device is capable of dealing massive damage within a large blast radius, making it effective for offensive and defensive play.
With remote activation, the explosive adds a tactical element to the shooter that can grant players groups of kills, so long as it's placed strategically. Otherwise, it's very slow to place, and the throwing range is incredibly short, so players caught using it are likely to get themselves killed. For quicker equipment, it's better to use some of the other lethal throwables.
5 Combat Axe
The Throwing Knife's Big Brother
- Thrown axe that can bounce off surfaces and one-hit enemies.
- Unlocked at Level 53.
Call of Duty players will be all-too-familiar with the throwing knives of prior games, but in recent years there's been a shift to axes instead. The need to level up quickly to unlock them hasn't changed, though, and the Combat Axe remains a weapon that caters to players with excellent precision and versatility.
Black Ops 6: Best Assault Rifles, Ranked
Players looking to get their hands on the best assault rifles in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 don't have to look much further than these examples.
It's worth noting that the axe does feel slightly clunkier than in years past, and it doesn't seem to soar through the air as directly as the knives used to; there's certainly more of an arc to the throw, that's for sure. Regardless, if players can master the blade and land their throws consistently, then they'll be graced with one of the most satisfying weapons to use in the game.
4 Molotov
The Floor Is Fire
- A thrown incendiary weapon that explodes into a patch of flames.
- Unlocked at Level 32
The Molotov is a classic grenade that's better in Multiplayer than it is in Zombies. When thrown, it shatters on impact, creating a pool of flames that spread across the targeted area. Any enemies caught in the fire take continuous burn damage, flooding the player's ears with the glorious tick of repeated hit markers.
Tactically speaking, it excels when enemies are grouped together, such as on objectives or highly congested areas. The lingering flames do give enemies a chance to escape the damage, so players will need to be present if an enemy requires finishing off with a bullet or two, but they'll certainly have a notable advantage against the scorched enemy.
3 Impact Grenade
For Immediate Impact
- Precision grenade that explodes on impact.
- Unlocked at Level 26
No grenade works faster than the Impact Grenade, which explodes on impact after it's been thrown. It works against surfaces or players, making it great for those who value quick, decisive actions in the heat of battle. Close quarters best suit the grenade, as it's easier to be more accurate with the throws and confirm some quick explosive kills.
Players can use it to disrupt enemy attacks thanks to its quick draw speed, and the instant explosion can even surprise foes who have little chance to escape. Chuck one toward someone who's already weakened from a gunfight, and the splash damage should be able to finish them off. Players just need to be sure that it's not thrown too near themselves, as its damage can lead to some unintended suicides.
2 Semtex
An Adhesive Advantage
- Sticky grenade with a timed fuse
- Unlocked at Level 9
The Semtex shares everything in similarity to the bog-standard grenade, except for the fact that it sticks to whatever it's thrown at, as opposed to bouncing or rolling around. This can create some huge advantages for players who play to this strength, and with the Danger Close Wildcard, players can carry two at a time.
Every aspect of the grenade is great: The range is far-reaching, the fuse is short, and the damage is high. When thrown accurately, enemies have little chance of escaping the blast radius, and even if they do, they will be flushed out into the player's gunfire. Plus, there's nothing more satisfying than sticking an enemy directly.
1 Frag Grenade
Cooked To Perfection
- A cookable fragmentation grenade
- Unlocked Immediately
A staple of lethal equipment since the dawn of FPS games, the Frag Grenade is a timeless and powerful explosive. With a timed fuse, the grenade explodes moments after it's thrown, but it can also be cooked in hand for a more controlled detonation. This versatility makes it an incredible piece of gear to have and one worth mastering.
Though it can be cooked before thrown, it's not even entirely necessary to get some kills with the grenade. Just throwing it onto an objective or near enemy cover forces them to flee the bomb, giving the player an edge in the ensuing gunfight. Still, it's worth learning to cook the Frags, as players can avoid gunfights altogether when the grenades are getting the kills for them.
