Summary
- Treyarch's Call of Duty maps offer nostalgia and variety for Black Ops 6.
- Classic maps like Hijacked, Summit, and Raid provide close-quarters combat and memorable experiences.
- Firing Range and Express offer long-range and medium engagements, showcasing the diverse map options for Black Ops 6.
Some players have always preferred the multiplayer aspect of Treyarch’s Call of Duty titles opposed to that of Infinity Ward and Sledgehammer. Whilst some might like the aesthetic, the gameplay, or the weapons, it’s impossible to deny that one of those reasons may be their classic map designs. Black Ops 6 could be off to a promising start if it includes some of the best COD maps of all time from Treyarch’s past.
The Best Call Of Duty Maps In The Franchise
There are a lot of maps in the Call of Duty series but some are better than others. Here's a look at the best of the bunch throughout the franchise.
With a bounty of games at their disposal, the legacy of Treyarch’s Call of Duty allows for a multitude of multiplayer maps that could add variety and nostalgia to Black Ops 6. Whilst everybody loves and expects Nuketown, these maps in particular have the nostalgic feel that should be added back.
6 Hijacked
A Luxurious Super Yacht
- Featured in: Call of Duty: Black Ops 2, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War
Hijacked is an absolute classic multiplayer map that features frantic combat thanks to the close-quarter engagements that await on an expensive yacht. Players can use the long hallways to snipe each other, as well as find plenty of nests that they can use to gun down their opponents as they desperately try and run through the center to get into the action.
Each room of Hijacked features exciting combat, from behind corners or directly in front of the player. Hijacked is one of the smaller multiplayer maps, but that’s where it would benefit from being added back. Sometimes, the best maps rely on close-quarters combat instead of long-range and frustrating fights.
5 Summit
A Snowy Mountain Research Facility
- Featured in: Call of Duty: Black Ops, Call of Duty: Black Ops 4
Summit has the potential for every fight, whether that be snipers, shotguns, SMGs, or other odd choices. Summit features battles from every single angle, and players will have to watch their backs, fronts, and sides from the deadly competition that awaits them in this research facility that has become a wasteland for combat, death, and bullets.
8 Call Of Duty Games With Underappreciated Single-Player Campaigns
Although contemporary Call of Duty titles are mostly known for their multiplayer content, some COD games have underrated singleplayer campaigns.
Summit features a few notable aspects, like a far-reached cable car that allows players to hide within and utilize it as a sniper nest. Summit is a fairly decent-sized map, but combat usually occurs in the East part of the map, where players can utilize the large building and its cover to do battle.
4 Raid
Close Quarter Hollywood Hills Mansion
- Featured in: Call of Duty: Black Ops 2, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War
Head to the Hollywood Hills, not for fame, but for war. With Raid, players will find exhilarating and hectic combat, in which they fight across hillsides and palm trees, using buildings and vehicles as cover before explosions take them. Raid is fast-paced, and plenty of different areas within the map lead to different combat situations.
Players can snipe, stab, and use close-quarter combat to navigate through the difficulties of Raid. Each building holds different torments and challenges, and players can definitely control the battle zone with enough battle smarts, leading to unpredictable and fun combat.
3 Firing Range
Military Practice Facility
- Featured in: Call of Duty: Black Ops, Call of Duty: Black Ops 4
A classic map, Firing Range is another choice that provides hectic combat, one that benefits truly from a game of Domination. Firing Range has a lot to love about it, and this training ground for the military might benefit players who love to run around and flourish on kills, and getting killed. Firing Range might be small, but it can benefit from all ranges of weapons.
Snipers have perch spots and long ranges to benefit their rifles, whereas those who enjoy the close-quarter mayhem will flourish thanks to the cover of buildings and decent distances and sprint speeds. Firing Range would benefit from Black Ops 6 especially since the frustrating competition of new players relies far too heavily on closed doors and corner peaking, something that Firing Range lacks.
2 Express
Los Angeles Bullet Train Station
- Featured in: Call of Duty: Black Ops 2, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War
Express is one of the most memorable maps in COD history, especially when paired with the intensity of Search & Destroy. In Express, players find themselves trapped in a bullet train station, where they can battle across train tracks, within a train, and within the expansive open space of the train station itself. All weapons benefit from Express, and players can truly excel in game modes outside of Team Deathmatch.
8 Forgotten Call Of Duty Games
With a new Call of Duty game hitting the market almost annually, it's no surprise that a few titles may have gotten lost amongst the best.
The benefit of Express certainly comes from the long-range capabilities, but equally as important, is the medium engagements to be had across train tracks. Peaking could cause certain death, especially in Search & Destroy, so this is a map where playing smart is better than playing hard.
1 Villa
Vicious Cuban Estate
- Featured in: Call of Duty: Black Ops
A map that had great success, but has surprisingly not returned since Villa acts as a perfect map for long-range fights and battles through corridors and other points of contest. Villa is a troublesome map, where players are going to benefit from medium and long-range battles over others. It’s a battle of skill, and players can dominate to hold spawn points and make their enemies suffer from their skill.
Villa might have a variety of areas to battle in, but the main points of battle come from the main villa itself, where players will fight it out to dominate and conquer the villa and claim ownership of its power. Villa’s center benefits players from the low walls that are perfect for drop-shotting, and those with explosives.
