Klaus has survived being blown to smithereens in Black Ops Cold War so that he can rejoin us in the fight once more, but this time, in the heart of the Dark Aether. Klaus was a beloved mechanical murderer, and the Dark Aether is the perfect place for him to indulge in his fleshy fantasies, which is why freeing him from his prison cell is of the utmost importance in Ashes of the Damned. Players can free Klaus to turn him into a permanent ally, and if you're looking to have Klaus join your team, then we've got you covered. Check out the steps below on how to get the Klaus Protector in BO7 Zombies!

How to Free Klaus From Jail in Black Ops 7 Zombies

Klaus can be located within the Ashwood Sheriff's Office, which is a locked door that can be opened with Essence in Ashwood, an area accessible once you get Ol' Tessie and complete the Power Pump at the Vandorn Farm or the Blackwater Lake. Players will need to take the east zipline up from the bottom of Ashwood and then head left of Vulture Aid in the Market Square, to find this building. Inside, players will find Klaus in a cell, locked away for safekeeping. Now, it's time to break Klaus out of jail.

For the next part, come prepared with weapons, armor, and a few perks, as you'll have to fight an Elite Enemy.

Next, head all the way back to the spawn area of Janus Towers Plaza. Once in this location, you will want to head west as if you were going through the gates to Blackwater Lake, but instead, an Uber Klaus is going to burst out of a crate. The Uber Klaus is an Elite Enemy, and as such, he is pretty deadly, so make sure you come prepared with at least a Pack-a-Punched weapon and some Armor, as this mechanical monster can deal lethal damage up close and from afar. You can also use the Napalm Burst Ammo Mod, as that's Uber Klaus' weakness. You will want to shoot the pylons on Uber Klaus' shoulders, and then after he's defeated, he will drop the Stabilizer Chip, which you will want to loot.

How to Update Klaus in Black Ops 7 Zombies

Now that you have the Stabilizer Chip, it's time to return to Klaus' jail cell in Ashwood. Once you approach the bars, you can interact with the terminal on the left that allows you to place the Stabilizer Chip, except now you're met with text that reads "Update Requires Restart". In order to update Klaus, you need to throw at least 3 Stun Grenades at him, and these Stun Grenades can't miss. That means you have to aim them near his seat and not have the Stun Grenade bounce out of the cell. You can craft Stun Grenades at the Crafting Table in Ashwood for 250 Salvage, so grab 4 of them, toss them at Klaus, and you'll know it's been done properly as stars will appear above his head as if he is stunned. Klaus will then wake up and fly out of the cell and meet you on the battlefield.

If Klaus has not woken up, but you're positive you've thrown over 4 Stun Grenades, then progress to the next round and try again.

How Does the Klaus Protector Work in Black Ops 7 Zombies?

Klaus will follow you around the map, and you can use Up on the D-Pad to Ping Klaus to where you want him to go. You can also hit L1 to command Klaus to go somewhere, where he will release a thunderous stomp. Klaus comes equipped with a Tier 2 Pack-a-Punch weapon, and the zombies will usually ignore him. However, Klaus is on limited health, so after a round or two, he will fly away. After a short recharge, you can recall Klaus with L1, but you will have to give up your Tactical Equipment in order to have Klaus active. Klaus is very useful to have, and to make things even better for your round progression, he will never kill the final zombie!
