Hitting the end of Level 55 (technically Level 56) opens up a new pathway for players of Black Ops 7 where they can start again, effective immediately, with a brand new Prestige icon, set of rewards, but at the cost of going through the leveling system once more to regain what they had lost. While it doesn't exactly sound like a good idea, there are a few reasons why you should hit Prestige in Black Ops 7 so that you can prove you're the master of combat across Multiplayer, Warzone, and Zombies. While hitting a single Prestige only grants you with 1 Prestige Token to re-obtain a locked item of your choosing, there are a few pros and cons of hitting Prestige that we'll talk about below so that the decision feels easier to make.
Should You Prestige in Black Ops 7?
Prestige is an important factor in any Call of Duty game, allowing players to feel a sense of accomplishment and motivation to continue gaining XP so that they can rise through the Levels once more and reach the elusive and legendary rank of Prestige Master. However, not all players are seeking the ultimate title, and therefore, hitting Prestige might be worth too much of a cost in time and unlockables. If you're a casual player who just wants to jump into public lobbies in Multiplayer with your completed loadout, or someone who enjoys the unrestricted loadouts in Zombies, then we do not recommend hitting Prestige. Hitting Prestige for a casual player means you will need to go through the process of unlocking all of your equipment again, which can ruin your perfectly crafted and meta loadouts.
However, if you're a hardcore Call of Duty player and intend to play for countless hours at a time, and want to unlock additional cosmetics, then we recommend hitting Prestige. Players who like further cosmetics and rewards will want to Prestige, as each level of Prestige has a unique set of rewards to claim for reaching it. While this does mean that you'll need to hit Level 56 each time, it also gives you more reason to earn XP across various game modes, and allows you to showcase your status on the race for Prestige Master.
Here's the pros and cons list of why you should/shouldn't Prestige:

There's a sense of progression in earning XP. |
You'll need to unlock items you previously had unlocked. |

You will have to start again from Level 1 every time. |

You will be able to track how fast you Prestiged, how many kills and XP you got, and genuinely just enjoy seeing stat progress. |

We recommend prestiging in Black Ops 7 for players who enjoy the game and want to continue playing it, but players who enjoy it more as a casual experience, shouldn't bother.
How to Prestige in Black Ops 7
After hitting Level 55, you will need to fill your XP bar up an additional time to Level 56, except that the level number does not change. However, you will see no further XP gains on your level meter. Once this has been achieved, you can head to the Lobby of Multiplayer or Zombies and enter the Barracks, where you can select the Progression tab, then the Prestige tab, which will be unlocked if you've hit Max Level. Now, click Prestige 1 (or the Prestige icon that you'll rank up to) and hold Triangle/Y, then hit Continue. This will open a screen to hold X/A to reset your level and enter Prestige, resetting you to Level 1, with a new Prestige icon. If you want to back out, then simply click "Not Right Now" and you can return to this screen at any time with the method seen above.
