The debut of these new weapons brings a fresh lineup of top options to use in Warzone Battle Royale. While this iteration of the game features the most balanced meta of all its predecessors — giving players more freedom in choosing their preferred weapons—there are still some options that rank higher than others. With that in mind, here are the 10 best weapons to use in Warzone Season 2.

Updated on February 6, 2025, by Nathan Round: Season 2 introduces a variety of weapon updates, along with three new weapons that players can add to their ever-expanding arsenal. This list has been updated to include the latest additions to Season 2, as well as several launch weapons that have risen to meta status following the most recent balance changes, buffs, and nerfs. Additional images have also been provided to showcase the number one best setup for each weapon.

10 LW3A1 Frostline

Fast-Handling Sniper Rifle

First up is the LW3A1 Frostline, the first major Sniper Rifle that players will unlock. Featuring an average kill potential of two shots, along with the ability to eliminate opponents with a single shot to the head, this reliable Sniper Rifle is excellent for quickly taking down enemies. However, its damage is almost identical to that of the LR 7.62, and while its time-to-kill is quite similar, the LW3A1 Frostline has poorer range and bullet velocity compared to the LR 7.62.

Where the LW3A1 Frostline excels, however, is in its superior handling attributes, offering much better aim-down-sight and sprint-to-fire speeds than the LR 7.62. Combined with its slightly faster fire rate, players may find that the LW3A1 Frostline is the best Sniper Rifle to consider for Resurgence playlists. It does have a fair amount of weapon kick, though, which can be a drawback for players seeking something more accurate.

9 LR 7.62

High Damage Sniper Rifle With Excellent Range

Rounding out the Sniper category is the LR 7.62, currently one of the hardest-hitting Sniper Rifles among the Black Ops 6 options. Though nearly identical to the LW3A1 Frostline in terms of damage when used in Warzone, the LR 7.62 maintains its high damage at further ranges, making it more reliable on larger maps like Urzikstan. Despite being slower overall, the LR 7.62’s extended damage range makes it more effective at a distance, producing a more consistent two-shot kill when landing on the upper torso.

Where the LR 7.62 truly excels is in its superior bullet velocity, which in turn enhances accuracy. With a higher bullet velocity, players don’t need to lead their shots as much compared to the LR 7.62's closest competitor, making landing those one-shot headshot kills that much easier. Additionally, the LR 7.62 is much easier to control, sporting less recoil and gunkick, allowing for smoother follow-up shots. However, these advantages come at the cost of reduced mobility and a slightly slower rechambering speed, which can limit the weapon's potential on smaller Resurgence maps like Area 99.

8 PPSH-41

Seasonal Debut SMG With Great TTK

The PPSH-41 made its Season 2 debut and has quickly cemented itself as a top-tier Submachine Gun in Warzone. This high-fire-rate SMG ranks among the top three weapons in its category from 0 to 10 meters and even claims the second spot at 12 to 13 meters. Beyond that range, it becomes the fastest-killing SMG in most scenarios.

However, its effectiveness is heavily reliant on accuracy. While the PPSH-41 is devastating in close-quarters combat, it does suffer from noticeable horizontal recoil, making it difficult to control at longer distances. Despite this, its raw power and fire rate make it an excellent choice for aggressive players looking to handle close-range gunfights with ease.

7 Kompakt 92

Top-Tier Submachine Gun With a High Fire Rate

For players seeking a Submachine Gun that excels at dealing high damage quickly, the Kompakt 92 is an outstanding choice. While this weapon has been a solid performer in Black Ops 6, it previously struggled to compete in Warzone. However, with recent nerfs to the Jackal PDW, the Kompakt 92 has finally secured its place as one of the best SMGs in the game.

The Kompakt 92's biggest advantage is its blazing-fast fire rate, which, when combined with its decent damage profile, allows it to rank among the top two fastest-killing SMGs within 0 to 10 meters. However, its effectiveness drops significantly beyond this range, trailing behind most other options. That said, if players need a powerful close-range support weapon for intense 10-meter fights, the Kompakt 92 is an unbeatable pick.

6 C9

High DPS Submachine With Great Versatility

Continuing the trend of high-ranking Submachine Guns is the C9, an excellent Multiplayer weapon that carries over well into Warzone. When it comes to time-to-kill, the C9 is a solid contender in the close-range meta, boasting the best TTK among all Submachine Guns up to the 10-meter mark. Although it is slightly slower than the previous entry, the C9's impressive TTK more than makes up for this drawback.

In terms of handling and mobility, the C9 falls somewhere in the middle—not the absolute best but high enough that players won't be at a disadvantage if they choose it over other options. Where the C9 truly shines, however, is in its ease of use, remaining relatively easy to control in most situations. All in all, if players want a slightly more versatile Submachine Gun, they can't go wrong with the C9.

5 XMG

Excellent Light Machine Gun For Long-Range Engagements

Moving on to a more long-range option, we have the XMG, a powerhouse in the long-range meta. While it may not have the highest overall time-to-kill (TTK) among all Light Machine Guns in the game, the XMG is still a top contender, boasting an impressive TTK up to the 45-meter range before leveling out with options like the Pulemyot 762 beyond that point. What sets the XMG apart from other choices is its remarkable accuracy, which, combined with its decent firepower, makes it a formidable weapon.

Although the XMG falls on the slower side in terms of mobility and handling compared to other weapons, it does boast a large magazine and significant damage output at range. This large magazine does come with the drawback of a lengthy reload time, however, but the ability to lay down sustained suppressive fire often makes this trade-off worthwhile.

4 Goblin Mk2

Powerful Semi-Automatic Rifle With An Excellent TTK

Next up is the Goblin Mk2, an underrated semi-automatic Assault Rifle that has slowly started gaining traction in Season 2. While many players may overlook this weapon, it might just be one of the best choices in its category. This is due to its exceptional damage output, making it the top Assault Rifle in terms of time-to-kill (TTK).

While it doesn’t eliminate enemies as quickly as its Multiplayer counterpart, the Goblin Mk2 remains a top contender in the long-range meta. It maintains its high damage profile at a distance and boasts impressive bullet velocity by default, making it a strong pick for players looking to pick off players from a distance. However, since the Goblin Mk2 is a semi-automatic weapon, it requires accuracy and skill to be used effectively.

3 AMES 85

Fast Firing Assault Rifle With Excellent DPS

Entering the top three spots for Warzone Season 2 is the AMES 85, a previously overlooked Assault Rifle that has slowly climbed the meta rankings following nerfs to weapons like the XM4. The AMES 85 boasts an exceptional fire rate, which in turn grants it an impressive level of DPS.

While the AMES 85 doesn’t necessarily top the charts in pure time-to-kill (TTK), it comes very close, making it a solid choice for players looking to shred opponents at various ranges. However, the weapon does have one major drawback—its horizontal recoil. While its vertical recoil is fairly manageable, the side-to-side bounce at longer distances can often be a problem—calling for players to focus on horizontal recoil control when kitting their loadout.

2 Model L

Great Assault Rifle Boasting Excellent Long-Range Potential

Despite boasting higher damage than the XM4, the Model L is actually quite similar in comparison, matching the XM4 in average time-to-kill up to the 36-meter range. However, things change beyond the 36-meter mark, where the Model L begins to outshine the XM4. From 45 meters, the Model L even surpasses the top-picked GPR 91, eventually becoming the highest time-to-kill Assault Rifle from 50 to 55 meters.

While the Model L may not be the hardest-hitting or fastest-killing Assault Rifle at closer ranges, its advantage beyond 50 meters can give it the edge, potentially outmatching opponents using other weapons in the Assault Rifle category. Additionally, the Model L is one of the easiest Assault Rifles to control, making it a highly accurate and reliable option.

1 AK-74

Hardest Hitting Full-Auto Assault Rifle With Great Range

Serving as the top full-auto weapon in the Assault Rifle category is the AK-74, boasting one of the highest levels of damage among all the weapons in its class. The AK-74 is a heavy-hitter in the meta for Warzone, boasting a great TTK when it comes to most full-auto Assault Rifle options. Of course, this is mainly factoring in if players hit most of their shots into a player's chest. The level of bullet velocity of the AK-74 is also on the high end of its category, allowing the weapon to be pretty versatile at longer ranges.

Though it definitely falls on the slower end in terms of handling and mobility—which only hinders its potential in close-quarters combat—the AK-74 is quite versatile, serving as an excellent option for the medium-to-long-range meta in Warzone. The only major drawback of the AK-74 is its significant vertical and horizontal recoil, requiring players to prioritize attachments that boost recoil control to maintain accuracy at range.
