The first season of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 (2023) introduces a brand-new act to the story missions of Modern Warfare Zombies - Contact. In this new act, players will continue to explore the ties between the current MWZ story and the events 40 years prior, unfolding through the Zombies modes of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. After completing the Defeat Zakhaev mission at the end of Act 3 - Confrontation, players will receive a small cutscene showing a dark aether portal appearing, attempting to draw Dr. Jansen into the aether, before the ghostly image of a girl in a white dress descends from the portal, approaches Dr. Jansen, then disappears just as quickly as the apparition appeared.

With such a cliffhanger ending, (and several references/easter eggs in the cutscene for veterans of the series) fans of the COD: Zombies series will be excited to further explore the story of Modern Warfare Zombies with the fourth act. While there is currently only one story mission available in Act 4, players will be able to interact even further with the Dark Aether portal after completing the story mission, gaining access to additional challenges and rewards. Dditionally, players can expect additional MWZ story missions in Act 4 throughout the year with each play season.

Modern Warfare Zombies - Act - Story Mission The story mission of Act 4 will have players travel into the Dark Aether rift, further uncovering the secrets of MWZ.

The first story mission of Act 4 will have players travel into the newly spawned Aether Tornado, brewing just on the border of the Medium and High Threat Zones. Players will travel through the Dark Aether portal to discover the new secrets brewing in the Urzikstan mission area. Once the story mission is completed for Act 4, players will be able to freely access the Dark Aether rift to take on additional challenges and earn epic rewards, including Ultra Rare schematics like the Dog Bone and the Golden Armor Plate.
