Modern Warfare 3 Zombies' third act of story missions will force players to think strategically and fully gear up before attempting the objectives throughout the five tiers of missions. One mission in the second tier of Act 3 - Confrontation, will require players to kill different types of enemies while under the active effect of the Aether Shroud field upgrade. With no upgrade function for the field upgrades like Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, players will only have a few brief seconds under the shadow of the Shroud to rack up kills.

Players will have to use the field upgrade multiple times to complete the two objectives in the Ghosted mission, but there are a few ways to significantly increase the number of zombies or mercenaries killed with each Aether Shroud activation.

Ghosted Mission Objectives and Rewards

The Ghosted mission has two objectives that both require using the Aether Shroud field upgrade and acquiring kills - the only difference between the two objectives being the designated target and the number of kills required. As the Aether Shroud field upgrade only lasts for a few moments, players will need to be clever and plan their kills to quickly complete the two objectives:

Kill 100 zombies with Aether Shroud active
Kill 20 Mercenaries with Aether Shroud active

Once players complete both objectives, an in-game Random Perk power-up will spawn, the next mission in Act 3 will register, and players will be awarded the Saw Blade Emblem and 2500 bonus experience.

Killing Zombies With Aether Shroud Active

When attempting to kill zombies while using Aether Shroud, players can quickly rack up kills by efficiently using Kazimir Devices or Cymbal Monkeys combined with an automatic shotgun or launcher. Run in a large loop in an area to gather up a crowd of zombies, deploy the tactical, and activate Aether Shroud.

With Kazimir Devices, players will want to activate the field upgrade immediately after throwing the black hole device. Players should wait until the final few notes of the Cymbal Monkey's tune before activating the shroud and unleashing fire with the equipped primary.

As the Cymbal Monkeys only have a small blast radius, players can reduce the number of Aether Shroud uses needed to reach 100 kills by supporting the explosion with a primary weapon like the crossbow with explosive bolts or the Riveter with incendiary rounds. Consider having an ammo mod like Shatter Blast or Napalm Burst active as well, along with the Elemental Pop Perk-A-Cola.

Players can further maximize the efficiency of the tactical by operating in the Medium or High Threat Areas and calling in an exfil helicopter to gather a large crowd of zombies in pursuit.

Killing Mercenaries With Aether Shroud Active

To kill 20 Mercenaries while using Aether Shroud players will have to be a bit creative. You can simply build up the field upgrade, run to an encampment or stronghold, and try to kill a few mercs within the active timeframe, but this will take several Encampments and Aether Shroud uses.

To quickly complete this mission objective, players should acquire a kill streak from a tier 2 buy station (Precision Airstrikes and Mortar Strikes are most effective) and track down the Mercenary Convoy players destroyed in Act 1. With the field upgrade ready, tag the convoy with a primary weapon to stop the movement of the trucks and deploy the kill streak on their position once the convoy halts. Be careful not to catch yourself in the blast radius of your own killstreak.

Players will need perfect timing to maximize the number of Mercenaries eliminated from the convoy during the short effect time of Aether Shroud:

With a precision airstrike, players should use their field upgrade right as the airstrike pilot radios that he is inbound.
With a mortar strike, listen for the deep booms of the mortars launching in the distance, wait half a second, and activate Aether Shroud.
