After releasing Josee from her cocoon and defeating her in Code Vein 2, players will find her fading bond inside Josee's Outpost. The only issue is that interacting with the bond is not possible since the connection is weak. Restoring this bond requires quite a few steps and also involves challenging boss fights. The guide below offers a full walkthrough of Josee's complete quest, as well as what players will get upon completing it in Code Vein 2.

The guide below contains spoilers for the main story of Code Vein 2.

Players who want to make the most of their time on Code Vein 2’s MagMell Island can use this guide to find everything that is housed there.

How to Repair Josee's Fading Bond (Josee Quest Guide) in Code Vein 2

The first thing that players need to understand about restoring Josee's fading bond is that it is not available right from the get-go. Another thing to keep in mind is that completing Josee's request to find spices in the free exploration past is entirely different and is not related to her fading bond. However, completing Josee's request gives you the key to access the locked gate in the Mountain Underground Facility.

Your main objective after defeating Josee will be to make your way to the Undead Forest. It is here that you have to find the Hero Holly and release her cocoon, just as you did with Josee.

Holly Quest Guide in Code Vein 2 (21)

Once you complete Undead Forest’s main story segment, you will find Holly’s fading bond as well. Completing this is necessary to access Josee's bond because you need an item from Undead Forest, which is only available after Holly's fading bond is complete. You will need to find the two remnants of Camillo and make your way to the Sanatorium, where you will fight a powerful boss, and this will alter the past, changing Undead Forest.

Once the past has been changed in the Undead Forest, make your way to the Sanatorium again, and you can fight Hero Holly again, but this final step isn't needed to start Josee's bond.

Instead, you can go into the building and grab Lise's Hair Ornament from the desk. This plays out a few memory interactions Lise had with Holly, after which you can make your way back to Josee's Outpost and interact with the bond.

Upon interacting with it, you will go back to the past, where you have to go to the outpost and help Josee fight the enemies. Once you survive the peril, a cutscene will play out with Gobbo, and you will be forced back to the present. Your next objective is to find Josee's sister in the Sunken City.

Fast travel to the Hill Overlooking Clock Tower and go southeast towards the tower to spot a girl outside on the ground. Talk to her, and she will give you the Shelter Key, which you can use to open the Underground Shelter in the tower and find Lise.

Go back to the bond in the outpost after this and go to the past to watch another cutscene with Gobbo. Once Gobbo leaves, you will need to travel to Bureau's Castle, located to the northwest of Sunken City. This location, which was inaccessible in the present, will now have two enemies outside that you must deal with before confronting Gobbo and Oskar inside.

You will now fight both of them at the same time. The second phase of this fight can be extremely difficult, mainly because of Gobbo's attacks that apply Luna Rapacis, which makes it so that you can't heal or get help from your partner.

Once you defeat the boss, you will get the "Messiah" trophy/achievement and will return to the outpost, where you can go back to the present to assess how the timeline was affected. You will get the "A Place of Memories" trophy/achievement for changing the history in the Sunken City.

Go to Josee's cocoon and release her after talking to Lise, which initiates the final fight with the Hero Josee. A lot of Josee's attacks hit in a wide arc, making them extremely hard to dodge out of, but you can parry if you get the timing right.

Don't try to get greedy with your hits because you will take a lot of damage in that case.

Once the boss is dealt with, you will get the Hero Josee (Blood Code). You will also get the "True to Oneself" trophy/achievement.
