Jails are pieces of equipment in Code Vein 2 that can be used to perform drain attacks. Those attacks allow players to restore ichor, a combat resource that is spent when using things like weapon formae, and each Jail is unique. This guide will offer an overview of how the Jails in Code Vein 2 differ from one another, and it will also help players find all of these powerful items.

The stats detailed below are base stats, and players can improve their Jails by upgrading them with Pure Platinum.

Description

A gigantic claw reminiscent of an ogre's arm.

Dash forward a short distance and drive the claw into the target. Equipping this increases defense.

Ogre was the first draining tech ever developed, and Jails using this tech date far back. Early Jails were unwieldy and dangerous, drawing revenant blood directly into the body. Only those with natural resistance survived their use. The fierce appearance of this tech represents ferocious determination in the face of certain death.

Hound

  • Location: Sunken Pylon (Sunken City)

As players advance through the Sunken Pylon dungeon, they will use a lift that stops very near to a gate that can be opened to create a shortcut to the Mall Below the Pylon mistle. This Jail is at the end of a short path directly across the lift.

Description

Crush foes with a twin-headed wolf.

Unleashes a two-hit combo with left and right jaws. While attacking, the user has increased disruption resistance to enemy strikes. Equipping this item greatly increases defense.

Hound is the next generation of draining tech following in the footsteps of Ogre. As ancient symbols of victory and courage, hunters have long favored wolves and their imagery in their fights against the supernatural. Significant numbers even took to raising actual wolves to aid in their hunts.

Surprisingly, the design for this vicious, twin-headed wolf is said to be based on a calm, friendly wolf raised by the creator. Perhaps due in part to that wolf's loyalty to its master, this Jail offers not only drain functions, but a certain stalwartness as well.

Stinger

  • Location: Josee's Outpost (Sunken City)

Work through Josee's Outpost until you reach the Josee's Outpost: West Gate mistle. The stairs next to that mistle lead directly to the Jail, which is on the ground

Description

A massive scorpion tail that skewers prey.

Thrust forward in a straight line over a long distance with the tail. Hold R2 to send enemies flying.

Equipping this Jail increases defense.

Like Hound, Stinger is part of the second generation of draining tech.

Unlike Ogre and Hound, however, it was built to trap prey from a distance and suit the needs of hunter assassins and cover operatives.

Though originally designed to both poison and drain, the complex circulation system occasionally caused a backflow of the lethal substance, leading to eventual removal.

Ivy

  • Location: Seized Substation (Sunken City)

Beat the boss at the end of the Seized Substation, and enter the room beyond its arena to find this Jail in a chest.

Description

Thorns that generate blades of steel.

Erupts countless blades from the ground, piercing a wide area.

Hold R2 to place a marker on the ground. Release R2 to drain at the marker's location. The marker can be repositioned as desired.

Equipping this item minimally increases defense.

Ivy is part of the third generation of draining tech, building on the foundations of stingers before them.

Designed specifically for long-range surprise attacks, these jails were favored by the most infamous assassins.

Unexpected attacks from below prove remarkably effective, but to wield them with true mastery demands both seasoned skill and unwavering focus.

The legendary assassin who went by Nyx was said to wear this type of jail at all hours, wielding its thorns as deftly as she did her own arms and legs.

Bat

  • Location: The Confluence

Visit the Confluence by resting at a mistle and choosing "Talk to Lou." The Jail appears in the vanity in this location. If Bat has not appeared, advance to Josee's arc and check the Confluence again.

Description

Launches a fang-tipped arrow with bat wings.

A swarm of bats descends and continuously drains blood from the enemy struck by the arrow. The bats disappear after a set amount of blood is drained. If the distance between the target and the user is great, the bats' drain rate decreases. If it becomes too great, the bats will vanish immediately. Equipping this Jail slightly increases defense.

Bat is the last generation of long-range draining tech based on Stinger.

Created amidst the societal upheaval caused by the Resurgence, this Jail was designed with greater public awareness than in the past. During those times of historical change, revenants and hunters stepped into the light, abandoning all prior secrecy. By easing the concentration demands limiting Ivy and allowing for long-range assaults, it has proved effective in combat against increasing enemy numbers post-Resurgence

Reaper

Players will find this Jail in a chest in the corner of a room not long after entering the Water Treatment Plant.

Description

A puppet reaper bearing a massive scythe.

Unleash a spinning slash with the scythe. The initial spin can deflect enemy attacks. If an attack cannot be deflected, it is blocked instead. Equipping this Jail slightly increases defense.

Reaper is the latest generation of close-range draining tech following Ogre and Hound. Ogre and Hound long covered all close-range draining needs, but that began to change following the Resurgence. Reaper was developed to address modern-day challenges. Against the monstrous horrors born from the Resurgence, a single blow can mean life or death.

By counteracting the opening left at the start of the attack with a parry, this Jail lives up to its name—Reaper, bringer of death and keeper of souls.
