The map in Code Vein 2 is quite large, and it is divided into six locations that are further split into smaller areas. At the start of the game, the terrain of the overwhelming majority of these areas is not shown on the in-game map, which can make navigation and locating points-of-interest a bit difficult. Fortunately, it is quite easy to reveal the areas on Code Vein 2's map, and this guide explains exactly how that is done.
This guide also details the meaning of the important icons that appear on the map after areas are revealed.
Code Vein 2 Dials Up Everything for a Bigger Soulslike Sequel
Code Vein 2 expands on the foundation of the first game, offering more freedom and flexibility in combat with a variety of weapon types and abilities.
How to Reveal Map in Code Vein 2
Visit Purple Circles
Players who open the in-game map will immediately notice that it is dotted with many pulsating purple circles. These circles mark map jammers, and destroying them will add the terrain of the surrounding area to the map. Typically, these map jammers manifest as trees with pink leaves, though players will occasionally need to dispatch an enemy with an aesthetic similar to those trees when visiting areas marked by purple circles.
There are also map jammers within dungeons, and destroying them reveals detailed maps of those areas. This makes fully exploring dungeons much easier, and players should definitely be on the lookout for jammers in those locations. Unfortunately, there are no purple circles marking their precise positions.
Map Icons in Code Vein 2
Not only does revealing the map make it much easier to navigate, it also causes icons that mark important locations to appear. Here are details about what those icons mean, and players should definitely make a point of visiting their positions while exploring the map:
|
Icon |
Details |
|
Entrance |
This icon marks the entrances to subterranean areas. |
|
Golden Nectar |
Players can find Golden Nectar at these locations. Golden Nectar can be used at Mistles to increase regeneration count (the number of heals available). |
|
Regional Pathos |
This icon marks Regional Pathos, which, once activated, provide benefits to the player when they are in associated areas. |
|
Tower of Regeneration |
Players can find Golden Blood Beads at Towers of Regeneration. Golden Blood Beads can be used at Mistles to increase recovery amount (the amount replenished by a heal). |
To note, players will also see dungeons and other points-of-interest on the map as they reveal areas. These locations are not represented by consistent icons, though their distinct nature makes them quite easy to identify. While players can complete the game without visiting all of those locations, there are often combat formae, weapons, and other useful items to be found within them, making trips to them worthwhile.
