There are a total of 63 achievements in Hollow Knight that players can earn for completing a variety of special challenges throughout the game. Almost all Hollow Knight achievements are tied to beating bosses, collecting items, or completing specific objectives in the base game and its four DLCs.

Other Hollow Knight trophies are tied to NPC quests, choices you must make at certain decision points, unlocking endings, or completing other challenges (like Mr. Mushroom's secret). This guide explains how to complete every achievement in Hollow Knight, split into eight categories to help players search through this list of every Hollow Knight trophy faster.

On PlayStation, there are only 34 Trophies – just over half the total number of achievements in Hollow Knight for other platforms. PlayStation players do not have to get speedrun achievements, the Steel Soul/Heart trophies, most of the boss achievements, and most of the quest and ending achievements to get the Hollow Knight platinum trophy.

Boss Achievements

Hollow Knight fighting the False Knight in the Forgotten Crossroads

Falsehood

Defeat the False Knight

To get the Falsehood trophy, Hollow Knight players must beat the False Knight in the Forgotten Crossroads.

Strength

Defeat the Failed Champion.

To get the Strength achievement, Hollow Knight players must use the Dream Nail on the False Night's body to summon and fight an enhanced version of the boss.

Test of Resolve

Defeat Hornet in Greenpath

To get the Test of Resolve trophy, Hollow Knight players must beat Hornet in her first appearance in the Greenpath zone.

Illumination

Defeat the Soul Master

To get the Illumination achievement, Hollow Knight players must find the Soul Sanctum above the City of Tears. Ascend through its gothic halls and defeat the Soul Master at the very top.

Mortality

Defeat the Soul Tyrant.

To get the Mortality achievement, Hollow Knight players must use the Dream Nail on the Soul Master's body to summon and fight an enhanced version of the boss.

Respect

Defeat the Mantis Lords

To get the Respect achievement, Hollow Knight players must beat the Mantis Lords below Mantis Village in the Fungal Wastes. After beating these bosses, other Mantis enemies will not attack you.

Honour

Defeat the Dung Defender

To get the Honour achievement, Hollow Knight players must use a Simple Key to get into the Royal Waterways below the City of Tears, then beat the Dung Defender.

Release

Defeat the Broken Vessel

To get the Release achievement, Hollow Knight players must defeat the Broken Vessel boss in the far southwest area of the Ancient Basin zone.

Peace

Defeat the Lost Kin.

To get the Peace achievement, Hollow Knight players must use the Dream Nail on the Broken Vessel's body to summon and fight an enhanced version of the boss.

Proof of Resolve

Defeat Hornet in Kingdom's Edge.

To get the Proof of Resolve achievement, Hollow Knight players must beat Hornet in her second appearance as a boss in the Kingdom's Edge area.

Beast

Destroy Herrah the Beast

To get the Beast achievement, Hollow Knight players must defeat Herrah, who can be found in the far west of the Deepnest zone. You must have the Dream Nail to enter Herrah's mind and break her seal.

Teacher

Destroy Monomon the Teacher

To get the Teacher achievement, Hollow Knight players must beat Monomon, who can be found in the Teacher's Archives in the middle of Fog Canyon. You must have the Dream Nail to enter Monomon's mind and break her seal.

Watcher

Destroy Lurien the Watcher

To get the Watcher achievement, Hollow Knight players must beat Lurien, who can be found in the Watcher's Spire above the City of Tears. You must have the Monarch Wings to get to this area, and the Dream Nail to enter Lurien's mind and break his seal.

Execution

Defeat the Traitor Lord

To get the Execution achievement, Hollow Knight players must go to the far north-west area of the Queen's Gardens zone (beyond Greenpath) and beat the Traitor Lord, one of the hardest boss fights in the game. You must have Isma's Tear to get past the acid pools.

Obsession

Defeat the Collector.

To get the Obsession achievement, Hollow Knight players must beat the Collector, who can be found in the Tower of Love above the City of Tears. You must find the Love Key on a husk in the southeast area of the Queen's Gardens zone, which opens the lockd Tower of Love in the far east of the City of Tears zone.

Hollow Knight DLC Achievements

Memory

Defeat the White Defender.

To get the Memory achievement, Hollow Knight players must use the Dream Nail on the Dung Defender's body to summon and fight an enhanced version of the boss.

Dark Romance

Defeat Grey Prince Zote.

To get the Dark Romance achievement, Hollow Knight players must defeat the final version of Zote in Bretta's House in Dirtmouth. To do this, you must save Zote, find Bretta to the left of the Dashmaster statue in Mantis Village, then use the Dream Nail on him in Bretta's House to enter a series of increasingly difficult fights.

Grand Performance

Defeat Troupe Leader Grimm.

To get the Grand Performance trophy, Hollow Knight players must start the Grimm Troupe quest in the Howling Cliffs, get the Grimmchild charm, then defeat Grimmkin across Hallownest to feed it flames of defeated enemies. When you collect enough, return to Troupe Master Grimm to fight him.

Ritual

Defeat the Nightmare King and complete the Ritual.

To get the Ritual achievement, Hollow Knight players must use the Dream Nail on Troupe Leader Grimm in his tent to summon and fight an enhanced version of the boss. You cannot complete both this and the Banishment achievement on the same file.

Banishment

Banish the Grimm Troupe from Hallownest.

To get the Banishment achievement, Hollow Knight players must get Brumm's Flame from the Beast's Den in Deepnest, then go back to the Howling Cliffs and banish the Grimm Troupe with this flame. You cannot complete both this and the Banishment achievement on the same file.

Brotherhood

Complete the Pantheon of the Master.

To get the Brotherhood achievement, Hollow Knight players must start the Godmaster DLC and reach the Godhome area by using a Simple Key on the coffin of the Godseeker in the Royal Waterway. Then, beat both Nailmaster Oro and Nailmaster Mato at the end of the Pantheon of the Master challenge.

Inspiration

Complete the Pantheon of the Artist.

To get the Inspiration achievement, Hollow Knight players must beat Paintmaster Sheo, the final boss of the Pantheon of the Artist challenge.

Focus

Complete the Pantheon of the Sage.

To get the Focus achievement, Hollow Knight players must beat Nailsage Sly, the final boss of the Pantheon of the Sage challenge.

Soul & Shade

Complete the Pantheon of the Knight.

To get the Soul & Shade trophy, Hollow Knight players must beat the Pure Vessel, the final boss of the Pantheon of the Knight challenge.

Embrace the Void

Ascend the Pantheon of Hallownest and take your place at its peak.

To get the Embrace the Void trophy, Hollow Knight players must complete the fifth and final challenge, the Pantheon of Hallownest, and defeat the Absolute Radiance at the end of more than 50 gruelling waves of enemies and bosses.

Challenges & Trials

Rivalry

Defeat Zote at the Colosseum of Fools.

To get the Rivalry achievement, Hollow Knight players must beat Zote at the end of the first round of the Trial of the Warrior in the Colosseum of Fools.

Warrior

Complete the Trial of the Warrior

To get the Warrior achievement, Hollow Knight players must complete the first trial in the Colosseum of Fools, which requires 150 Geo to unlock.

Conqueror

Complete the Trial of the Conqueror

To get the Conqueror achievement, Hollow Knight players must complete the second trial in the Colosseum of Fools, which requires 450 Geo to unlock.

Fool

Complete the Trial of the Fool

To get the Fool achievement, Hollow Knight players must complete the third and final trial in the Colosseum of Fools, which requires 800 Geo to unlock.

Steel Soul

Finish the game in Steel Soul mode

To get the Steel Soul achievement, Hollow Knight players must complete the game without dying once. Quit out of the game to return to the last bench you rested at if you are in danger to make this achievement easier to get.

Steel Heart

Achieve 100% completion and finish the game in Steel Soul mode.

To get the Steel Heart achievement, Hollow Knight players must beat the game and gain 100% completion status on the save without dying.

Endings & Completion Achievements

Completion

Achieve 100% game completion and finish the game

To get the Completion achievement, Hollow Knight players must collect every Nail upgrade, get the Dream Nail, all Mask and Vessel upgrades, find every unique spell and ability, all three Nail Arts, beat every boss, complete the Colosseum of Fools, get every Charm, and earn 2400 essence to learn the Seer's final words.

The Hollow Knight

Defeat the Hollow Knight and become the Vessel.

To get The Hollow Knight trophy, Hollow Knight players must beat the final boss of the game, which will trigger the game's default ending.

Dream No More

Defeat The Radiance and consume the light.

To get the Dream No More achievement, Hollow Knight players must unlock the Void Heart charm, equip it, then beat the Hollow Knight final boss. When Hornet interrupts the fight, use the Dream Nail on the Hollow Knight to fight the Radiance.

Sealed Siblings

Defeat the Hollow Knight with Hornet by your side.

To get the Sealed Siblings achievement, Hollow Knight players must unlock the Void Heart charm, equip it, then beat the Hollow Knight final boss. When Hornet interrupts the fight, continue to attack the boss until it is defeated.

Speedrun 1

Complete the game in under 10 hours

To get the Speedrun 1 achievement, Hollow Knight players must complete the game in under 10 hours total. Focus on main bosses and upgrades to complete the game as fast as possible. You just have to beat the Hollow Knight to trigger this Hollow Knight trophy.

Speedrun 2

Complete the game in under 5 hours

To get the Speedrun 2 achievement, Hollow Knight players must complete the game in a blindingly fast 5 hours. Consider your route, focus only on required bosses and upgrades (you can skip Isma's Tear, for example), and you should be able to beat it in such a short amount of time.

Speed Completion

Achieve 100% game completion and finish the game in under 20 hours

To get the Speed Completion achievement, Hollow Knight players must complete all requirements for 100% completion of the game in under 20 hours. Arguably harder than the Speedrun 2 achievement because of the sheer number of collectibles, quests, and bosses you must fight in this short amount of time.

Pure Completion

Achieve 112% game completion and finish the game.

To get the Pure Completion trophy, Hollow Knight players must complete all DLC content in addition to all base game content. This includes the collection of four charms from the Grimm Troupe DLC and defeating both Grimm and the Nightmare King bosses, the Hive Knight boss in the Lifeblood DLC, acquiring the Godtuner, and beating all four Pantheons of the Godmaster DLC.

Charms, Mask Shards & Vessel Fragments

Charmed

Acquire your first Charm

To get the Charmed trophy, Hollow Knight players must simply collect any charm. You can purchase basic charms from Salubra in the far southeast Forgotten Crossroads.

Enchanted

Acquire half of Hallownest's Charms

To get the Enchanted achievement, Hollow Knight players must find half of the game's total charms. You can get 40 Charms in a single playthrough, so you must collect 20 to trigger this Hollow Knight trophy.

Blessed

Acquire all Charms and receive Salubra's blessing

To get the Blessed trophy, Hollow Knight players must collect all 40 Charms in Hollow Knight, then go back to Salubra in the Forgotten Crossroads to get her blessing.

Protected

Acquire 4 Mask Shards

To get the Protected achievement, Hollow Knight players must find four Mask Shards, which will form one additional HP point.

Masked

Acquire all Mask Shards

To get the Masked trophy, Hollow Knight players must find every Mask Shard in Hollow Knight. There are a total of 16 Mask Shards in the game, four of which can be purchased from Sly in Dirtmouth.

Soulful

Acquire 3 Vessel Fragments

To get the Soulful achievement, Hollow Knight players must find three Vessel Fragments, which will form a small reserve of SOUL that will refill your bar if you should run out.

Worldsoul

Acquire all Vessel Fragments

To get the Worldsoul achievement, Hollow Knight players must find every Vessel Fragment in Hollow Knight. There are a total of nine Vessel Fragments in the game, two of which can be purchased from Sly in Dirtmouth.

Grubs & Stag Stations

Grubfriend

Rescue half of the imprisoned grubs

To get the Grubfriend achievement, Hollow Knight players must find half of the grubs in Hollow Knight. This achievement will trigger when you find the 23rd imprisoned grub, as there are a total of 46 grubs in the game.

Metamorphosis

Rescue all of the imprisoned grubs

To get the Metamorphosis trophy, Hollow Knight players must find all 46 grubs in the game. You will get special Grubberfly charms (and other rewards) as you return to the Elder Grubberfly in the far northwest of the Forgotten Crossroads.

Connection

Open half of Hallownest's Stag Stations

To get the Connection achievement, Hollow Knight players must find 5 of the total 10 Stag Stations in Hallownest. You will likely unlock this achievement after getting to the King's Station or Resting Grounds, depending on the route you take through the game.

Hope

Open all of Hallownest's Stag Stations and discover the Stag Nest

To get the Hope achievement, Hollow Knight players must find all 10 Stag Stations in Hallownest, then go to the Stag Nest, which is only revealed once you have reached all Stag Station locations. Areas with a Stag Station include:

Cartographer

To get the Cartographer trophy, Hollow Knight players must purchase a map of every area in Hallownest. If you miss Cornifer on your first expedition through a new area, return to his wife in Dirtmouth to purchase a map of the area instead.

Keen Hunter

Record all of Hallownest's creatures in the Hunter's Journal

To get the Keen Hunter achievement, Hollow Knight players must kill one of every enemy in the game to add them to the Hunter's Journal. You do not need to complete the second listing for each enemy.

True Hunter

Receive the Hunter's Mark

To get the True Hunter achievement, Hollow Knight players must completely reveal all notes in the Hunter's Journal for every enemy in the game, then return to the Hunter to get the Hunter's Mark. Once you have defeated enough of each enemy type to unlock every second entry, you will be attuned.

Attunement

Collect 600 Essence

To get the Attunement achievement, Hollow Knight players must collect 600 total Essence by using the Dream Nail on Whispering Roots and beating Warrior Spirits throughout Hallownest.

You can get 300-400 Essence each for defeating the dream version of the False Knight, the Broken Vessel, and Soul Master bosses, too.

Awakening

Collect 1800 Essence and awaken the Dream Nail

To get the Awakening trophy, Hollow Knight players must earn 1800 Essence, then return to the Seer to unlock the ability to access more memories.

Ascension

Collect 2400 Essence and hear the Seer's final words

To get the Ascension achievement, Hollow Knight players must find a total of 2400 Essence, then return to the Seer to hear their final words.

NPC & Quest Achievements

Witness

Spend a final moment with Quirrel.

To get the Witness achievement, Hollow Knight players must find Quirrel in Blue Lake after beating the Uumuu boss, then talk to him one last time.

Void

Remember the past and unite the Abyss.

Solace

Bring peace to the Grey Mourner

To get the Solace achievement, Hollow Knight players must bring the Grey Mourner's Delicate Flower to a grave in the Queen's Gardens area without taking any damage.

Purity

Slay the Nailsmith with the Pure Nail.

To get the Purity achievement, Hollow Knight players must kill the Nailsmith after getting the final Nail upgrade.

Happy Couple

Allow the Nailsmith to find a new calling.

To get the Happy Couple achievement, Hollow Knight players must talk to the Nailsmith after getting the final Nail upgrade, then find him in Greenpath and talk to him again.

Neglect

Leave Zote to die

To get the Neglect achievement, Hollow Knight players must not save Zote from the Vengefly King in Greenpath. Return to the area later on to find Zote's dead body and get this achievement.

Passing of the Age

Aid the Herald in moving on.

To get the Passing of the Age achievement, Hollow Knight players must complete the secret Mr. Mushroom ending by finding Mr. Mushroom in several locations. You must equip the Spore Shroom charm equipped to talk to Mr. Mushroom in the following locations:
