Condemned: Criminal Origins has been delisted from Steam and the Xbox Store, with no advance notice or explanation given. While existing owners can still download it, there are currently no indications that the classic survival horror game will return to Steam or any other storefront anytime soon.
The delisting is plausibly connected to the recent closure of Condemned: Criminal Origins developer Monolith Productions. Parent company Warner Bros. Games shut down the Washington-based studio in February 2025, citing a desire to refocus its resources amid wider restructuring efforts.

Condemned: Criminal Origins Delisted After Hitting Historical Low Price
Condemned: Criminal Origins was delisted from Valve's storefront on October 31. As is typical for such moves, the game's Steam page remains live, but it no longer allows purchases. The title was pulled from the Microsoft/Xbox store at the same time. The delisting happened while Condemned: Criminal Origins was on sale at 75% off, once again matching its historical low price of $3.73—something it has done many times over the years. The discount went live as part of the Steam Scream 4 Fest sale on October 27.
Condemned: Criminal Origins Possibly Delisted Due to Routine Rights Housekeeping
The fact that Condemned was pulled from Valve's digital storefront on the final day of the month suggests the delisting may be a result of routine rights housekeeping, though no reason has officially been announced. Given Sega published the game on both PC and Xbox while development was handled by Monolith, the delisting could stem from expiring rights or agreements related to that arrangement. Some contracts in the industry include automatic renewal provisions that continue so long as both parties remain in place and in good standing. Hypothetically, the closure of a contracting party could interrupt that renewal or trigger a repapering requirement. However, since a 19-year-old horror game presumably no longer generates significant revenue, Sega may have decided that pursuing renewed terms with Warner Bros. Is not worth the effort in this scenario.
Social media reports suggest that Fanatical was still selling discounted Steam keys for Condemned: Criminal Origins shortly following the delisting. That is no longer the case as of the evening of November 1 (ET). Given Fanatical's business model, the offer was likely based on a pre-purchased batch of older keys that would have sold out eventually even without the discount.
Condemned: Criminal Origins owes its cult classic status to its thrilling (and extremely gory) combat, oppressive sound design, and detailed environments, among other qualities. Back in the golden age of physical releases, it also took some people by surprise because it wasn't really marketed as a horror title, but an interactive story of an FBI agent pursuing a serial killer. These days, Condemned: Criminal Origins has a reputation as one of the best survival horror games from the mid-2000s, making its delisting a notable loss for younger fans of the genre interested in exploring its classic titles.
