Despite only releasing a few days ago, cooperative multiplayer horror game Content Warning has a new update. The development team at Landfall added several new Content Warning features that players will find useful as they attempt to record spooky occurrences as a team.

Released on April 1, 2024, Content Warning originally came across to some as an April Fools' joke, but was quickly accepted as a substantial game in its own right, attracting over six million players by being free to download and play for the first 24 hours of its release window. The game casts teams of up to four players as a group of videographers from a far-future civilization visiting the abandoned buildings and ruins of human society, now known as the "Old World." Dressed in protective suits with limited oxygen and fun Content Warning ASCII faces, players need to work together to film as many scary things as possible and upload it to the futuristic video service SpookTube for profit.

Content Warning: Where Do Video Recordings Save?

Content Warning gives you the option to save and rewatch your recordings. Here's everything you need to know about how this feature works.

Landfall's new update for Content Warning brings with it a few bug fixes related to issues uncovered by players in the launch window. It also adds a handful of inventive new items. Detailed in a Content Warning Steam page update and promoted via Landfall's official Twitter account, the update adds four new tools to the growing selection of Content Warning items: The Reporter Mic, the Sound Player, the Party Popper, and a projector located in the garden area.

Content Warning Small Update Patch Notes

  • Added new item "Reporter Mic"
  • Added new item "Sounds Player"
  • Added new item "Party popper"
  • Added a projector in the garden
  • Adjusted prices of emotes
  • Added inverted mouse setting
  • Fixed disk being able to be duplicated if you picked it up at the same time
  • Decreased hard drive usage for recordings

The Content Warning Reporter Mics are props allowing players to record news-style framing for in-game recordings, while the Sound Player can play prerecorded sound effects, like applause. The Party Poppers add some festive cheer to videos, as well, and the garden projector can be used to set up backdrops. Meanwhile, Landfall also acknowledged ongoing issues with Content Warning voice chat, and said that the team is working on fixes. Finally, the team even demonstrated the patch additions by highlighting them through a video recorded using the Content Warning in-game recording tools themselves.

Content Warning appears to be a surprise hit, with fans of similar co-op horror games like Lethal Company and others flocking to Landfall's inventive take on the video content creator premise and its clever first-day free release window. The team will have its work cut out for it as it addresses bugs and potential stability issues, but with time and care, Content Warning could become a new staple horror game for friends and streamers to enjoy.
