Core Keeper does food in a simple yet effective way. Rather than having long recipes that are hard to follow with many rare ingredients, it lets the player combine whichever two ingredients they want, however they want. Different food item combinations will produce different delicious dishes that have unique effects.
Food isn't just an essential resource for staying alive; it is also a source of buffs that increases your chances of survival and makes you more powerful when fighting enemies. It's important to experiment with your food combinations to find the ones that suit your playstyle the best.

How To Cook In Core Keeper
Cooking is a simple affair in Core Keeper, only needing two ingredients per dish. Here's what you need to do to become the master chef of your dreams:
- Use the basic crafting table to create a cooking pot. If you start with the Cook class, you will have a cooking pot from the start.
- Place the pot on an empty block and place two food items of your choice. Any edible items can be combined.
- Wait until the food is ready and interact with the pot again to take out your dish.

How Does Cooking Work In Core Keeper
There are a variety of things that affect the end result in the cooking pot. First and foremost, is the quality of the ingredients that you use when cooking. Higher quality ingredients will give you a higher quality result, since the end result of any cooking depends mostly on the effects of the starting ingredients.
Combining two ingredients will, naturally, combine their individual effects. Higher quality ingredients will take precedence over the lower quality ones, with their effects being more prominent. If there are two similar effects in ingredients, the one with the higher numerical value will be used in the final dish.
When both foods are of the same quality, the chosen effects are random.
The perks you've invested in will also determine some of the additional effects on your dish. For example, the "Power of Omega-3!" talent will give players a damage boost against bosses if they create a dish using a fish. Similarly, the "Long Lasting" talent will increase the duration of all food buffs by a certain amount, and the "Utilizing every ingredient" talent will increase the food value of your creations.
