There's plenty to explore in Crashlands 2, and players won't have to run around the wilderness alone. You can have companions to help you do stuff while exploring, and getting them is much simpler than you'd think.
Having a pet is as cool as it is fulfilling, and once you start feeling the pressure in fights, they can lend a helping hand if needed. In this Crashlands 2 guide, we'll be covering how to find and raise your first pet as well as some tips on how to get more of them.
Crashlands 2 Creative Director Discusses the Sequel's Biggest Improvements
The Best War Games speaks with Butterscotch Shenanigans creative director Sam Coster about how Crashlands 2 has improved over its predecessor.
How to Get a Pet in Crashlands 2
You can get your first pet fairly early on. After contacting the denizens of Haarlipol, you'll get a quest called Looks Like BS, which will have you exploring Sluggabun Grotto far to the west of the town. You may want to bring some Popcork Docks with you if you want to reach the Grotto easily. Popcork Docks will also help you reach Juice Jems that are hidden on small patches of land surrounded by water.
Once you're at Sluggabun Grotto, explore the area until you find a Sluggabun egg further to the west. This will start a quest called A Good Egg,
A Good Egg Quest
This is a relatively short quest that will send you to Thunder Fields, which is directly south of the Crash Pod. The steps are fairly easy to follow — speak with NPCs, defeat enemies, speak with NPCs again, and so on.
Here, you'll meet Baani and Clood, two ranchers who are having a bit of a pest problem. Clear out the Ampybaras in their ranch (make sure to check the barns too), and they'll give you advice on how to care for the Sluggabun egg you found.
In the future, you can find more pets by completing quests or by finding them in the world.
How to Raise Pets
If you want to raise a pet in the Crashlands sequel, you'll need to nest eggs in the correct environments. As far as the Sluggabun egg is concerned, you must build and place a nest, and put it in a room with the following conditions:
- The room must be cramped.
- The room must be away from workstations.
- The egg must be near a Poplamp.
For this egg, you can make a small 1x3 room that has enough space for a Poplamp and a Woven Nest. Make sure that it satisfies all conditions needed for it to be considered a room (it must be enclosed with walls and a door).
Once you've placed the egg in a room with the right conditions, it will start incubating. Eventually, it will hatch, and your new pet will emerge.
