Critical Role recently announced a new one-shot campaign inspired by Avowed will be taking place on February 18. The show features several special guest stars, including Anjali Bhimani – the voice actress for Yatzli in Avowed.

Developed by Obsidian Studios, Avowed is a new action RPG set in the same universe as Pillars of Eternity. Once Avowed releases on February 18, players will take up the role of an envoy from the Aedyr Empire as they explore the verdant Living Lands of Eora and investigate the Dream Scourge, a mysterious plague that has emerged in the diverse region.

However, it seems fans will be able to experience another Avowed story without even playing the game. The popular actual play stream Critical Role is hosting an Avowed-themed one-shot campaign on February 18 – the same day the game releases – starting at 7 PM PST, called “Delve Into Dawnshore.” Ostensibly using the Dungeons and Dragons TTRPG system and run by Matthew Mercer, Critical Role cast members and voice actors Marisha Ray and Travis Willingham are joined by Anjali Bhimani, SungWon Cho, and Whitney Moore in this special adventure.

Bhimani is a renowned voice actor who appears in Avowed itself as Yatzli, a stylish spellcaster and player companion, in Overwatch 2 as Symmetra, and as a guest in previous Critical Role campaigns and one-shots. Cho, also known as ProZD, started as a short-form internet comedian, later earning accolades as the voice actor for roles such as Ratatoskr in God of War Ragnarok and Senshi in Delicious in Dungeon. Moore is a live-action and voice actor known for many roles, including Stargirl in Young Justice, and as a guest in L.A.by Night, a Vampire: The Masquerade actual play.

This isn’t the first video game one-shot Critical Role has done. Elden Ring, Mortal Kombat 1, and Doom Eternal are just a few of the video games that have received actual play adaptations, with Assassin’s Creed: Shadows being the most recent example. Featuring Emily Piggford and Peter Shinkoda, the voice actors for AC: Shadows characters Tomiko and Fujibayashi Nagato respectively, this one-shot aired on January 14, and is available to watch for free on Critical Role’s YouTube and Twitch channels.

Fans can catch this special one-shot campaign on YouTube, Twitch, or Critical Role’s own Beacon streaming service. Viewers looking for more Critical Role content can then catch Exandria Unlimited: Divergence, a four-part miniseries, starting February 13 and ending on March 6 – just in time for the actual play’s 10-year anniversary.
