The very first episode of Critical Role aired on March 12, 2015, bringing the voice actor-filled actual play to Twitch for the first time ever. Over the next 10 years, Critical Role has seen unprecedented success, from the establishment of a publishing company, foundation, and the Beacon streaming service, to the airing of three seasons of The Legend of Vox Machina – an animated adaptation of the first campaign.
Critical Role Might be Announcing a Video Game Soon
The nerdy voice actors of Critical Role tease that a "really exciting" announcement is on the way, and fans are asked to keep an eye out for more.
Now, Critical Role is releasing a special anthology to celebrate its 10-year anniversary in 2025. Critical Role: Vox Machina – Stories Untold is a series of 10 short stories written from the perspective of various characters connected to the adventuring party, from allies like Shaun Gilmore, Trinket, Kaylie, and Doty to major villains like Raishan and Kevdak. Each story is penned by a different person, including bestselling authors like Rory Power and Sarah Glenn Marsh, and Dimension 20 and Critical Role guest GM Aabria Iyengar. Cast member Liam O’Brien also provides a foreword, promising a bevy of varied voices throughout the anthology.
