As players make their way through Massive Beast's Cult of the Lamb, they'll encounter an array of strange characters that may request things from the aspiring little cult leader. At the start of the game, gamers are forced to take on enemies strewn throughout the Darkwood if they want to progress the story. Here, during a random Crusade, players have a chance to come across an NPC called The Fisherman. This odd-looking fellow tells the Lamb about a place called Pilgrim's Passage, which promptly unlocks on the overworld map.

If players go and find the Fisherman again, they'll unlock a task that will reward them with a special item that can change the way they attack Crusades. Here's a look at how to start The Beasts Below The Waves side quest in Cult of the Lamb and snag the missing Lobster and Squid for the Fisherman.

After players return to their Cult, they'll be able to use the warp pad at the top of the area to head to Pilgrim's Passage, where they will find The Fisherman on a dock at the bottom right. Interacting with him will unlock the Fishing mini-game, and after successfully catching a fish, The Fisherman will ask the Lamb to help them out. This begins The Beasts Below The Waves side quest, in which The Fisherman will ask the Lamb to bring them a Crab, a Lobster, an Octopus, and a Squid. Obtaining the Crab and Octopus is pretty simple, requiring players to simply fish at the nearby fishing spot, but obtaining the Lobster and Squid requires a few extra steps.

There are multiple ways for players to tackle this quest but the easiest way is to unlock a particular Ritual that will make obtaining the Lobster and Squid incredibly easy. To unlock the appropriate Ritual, players need to collect full Stone Tablets (by obtaining three Stone Tablet pieces, via Crusading or leveling up cultists through Loyalty) and then achieve Level 3 in the Sustenance Doctrine Tree. There, they will have the choice to unlock something called the Ritual of the Ocean's Bounty.

Unlocking this Ritual and then using it, will double the amount of fish that the Lamb reels in for two entire days. On top of that, it will greatly increase the rate at which rare fish spawn, making it the perfect tool to accelerate the drop rates for the exceedingly rare Lobster and Squid. If players activate this Ritual and head to Pilgrim's Passage, they will likely collect more than one Lobster and Squid in a single fishing session. The ritual itself costs 75 Bones to perform, but players that have unlocked the Cheaper Rituals Divine Inspiration will only have to pay 37 Bones.

Other Ways To Obtain The Lobster And Squid

Players that don't want to spend the time and resources to enact the Ritual of the Ocean's Bounty do have a couple of other options for finding the elusive sea creatures. Those that enjoy combat can unlock a special Tarot Card (sometimes randomly during Crusades, or purchased if available at the storefront of Pilgrim's Passage) that will cause enemies to sometimes drop fish. It's possible for players to snag a Lobster or Squid by simply slaying enemies, but they'll first need to get lucky enough to find the Tarot Card during a run, and then be twice as lucky to see a Squid or Lobster drop.

Another method is for players to simply try their luck by fishing at Pilgrim's Passage each and every day, without activating the ritual first. Unfortunately, this method relies entirely on Luck, and players could find themselves spending hours upon hours without getting a single Lobster or Squid. This also takes away valuable time that the Lamb could be using to tend to their Followers.

What Is The Reward For The Beasts Below The Waves Quest?

CultOfTheLambHolyTalisman

Each time the player brings The Fisherman a sea creature on his list, he will reward them with a Holy Talisman piece. If players can manage to hand over all four fish, they'll complete an entire Holy Talisman, which can then be taken back to the Church Altar and traded in for a new Fleece. These Fleeces will change how players approach Crusades, by unlocking different buffs, debuffs, and mechanics.

The Lamb will also unlock the ability to barter with The Fisherman. He will actively sell fish to players for 10 Gold a piece, including the elusive Lobsters and Squids. Players can use these high-quality ingredients in tasty recipes for their Followers, and savvy gamers can even turn a profit on their investment by taking the Lobster and Squid back to their Cult and selling it to The One Who Waits after unlocking the ability to submit offerings via the holding chest near the Lamb Statue.
