Dragon Quest 3 Remake: Difficulty Levels Explained

There are three difficulties in Dragon Quest 3 Remake; here's how to change between them and which is right for you.

1

What Are Curses in Dragon Quest 3 Remake?

Once you put a Cursed item, be it an accessory or a weapon, onto a party member, it will not be able to be taken off or given to another member of the team. Typically, the Cursed items will have a pretty positive effect, but will also have a negative thing about it. Imagine a sword that does super high damage, but every time you attack with it, it deals ten hit points of damage to yourself. That's just an example.

But of course, there's an easy way to get rid of Curses, but it'll cost you.

How to Remove a Curse in Dragon Quest 3 Remake

In order to remove a Curse in Dragon Quest 3 Remake, you simply need to find a town or a city with a Church. You're likely to have found multiple Churches by now in your playthrough if you've already obtained a Cursed item.

Speak to the priest in the Church and choose the Benediction option. You'll need to pay 240 Gold each time to remove the curse, but once the money is given, the cursed item can be removed from the wearer. However, the Cursed item will still be cursed, even after the Benediction. So be careful who you decide to give the item or equipment piece to in your party.

You can also remove a Curse by using the ability Sheen. This is learned by the Mage and Sage vocations around level 30.

Cursed Equipment in Dragon Quest 3 Remake

As for the Cursed items available in DQ3 Remake, we've come across three so far. Of course, it's likely that there are more to be found across the land:

  • Golden Claws has an attack of 62 and can be found in the base of the Pyramid dungeon. This one causes random battles every step you take, but it only does that when you're in that pyramid.
  • The Mask of Implacability makes the wearer constantly Confused, but Defense increases to 520. If a party member gets confused in battle, they'll start to attack their teammates. This one is in Orochi's Lair.
