While some are great from the moment they're picked up, others have a lot of potential to be unlocked through the use of the various attachments available in the game. Depending on the type of weapon, there will be different attachments which can, in the case of sniper rifles, for example, increase the possible zoom, reduce sway and make a weapon more accurate. When used properly, attachments can turn a regular weapon that no one would look at twice, into an instrument of mass destruction that can easily decimate enemies.

The Handyman is a great Short Scope made by SoftSys that was added in Patch 1.5. This useful attachment increases a weapon's zoom by 0.3-0.5 and its effective range by 10-20%. If players upgrade this attachment enough to reach Tier 5, they will enjoy a +10% Crit Chance increase when landing headshots and weakspots.
As for display information, the Handyman, has an ammo counter on the top left and a targeting reticle that slightly grows when aiming at enemies. To get this attachment, players can go to one of the weapon vendors in Night City and purchase it.

The Gaki attachment, manufactured by Tsunami, is great to pair with any sniper rifle, as it increases zoom by 3.50-4.00 while also reducing weapon sway by 30%. When upgraded to Tier 5, the Gaki also reduces by half the charge time for a fully charged shot.
It should be noted that this weapon can only be installed on Tech Sniper Rifles and that it has an altimeter that allows players to see how high their position is at every moment. The Gaki can be purchased from weapon vendors once V reaches level 30.

If players attach this silencer to one of the better pistols, "Dying Night," the base stats of the pistol can compensate for the 15% damage reduction. The XC-10 Alecto increases the damage multiplier by 2.5%, but when players are silenced, it doesn't give away the player like other muzzles do.
However, that damage multiplier is negligible because of how much more the player will hit. With the base damage of the "Dying Night" along with the multiplier, players may hit harder than ever.
