One Cyberpunk 2077 player has beaten the game without investing in any cyberware. Making matters even more unusual, this wasn't a deliberate challenge, with the fan turning Cyberpunk 2077 into an ultra-hardcore experience completely on accident.

The so-called "all-natural" challenge has previously gained traction among Cyberpunk 2077 fans for offering a punishing level of difficulty with no modding required. It also allows role-playing a V who's adamant to hang on to their humanity, even though, unlike the Cyberpunk tabletop game, the video game doesn’t actually penalize excessive cyberware use with a loss of sanity.

Cyberpunk 2077 Player Beats Adam Smasher With no Cyberware in 6 Attempts

While there are at least dozens of players who managed to beat Cyberpunk 2077 with the all-natural challenge ruleset to date, there may only be one who did so accidentally. As recently reported by Reddit user Anxious_Singer_4823, their little brother did just that. "I was watching him beat Adam Smasher, and after he beat [him], I was wondering why it took him so long," the fan said, clarifying that the fight took six attempts. This prompted them to take a look at his cyberware, realizing he had none, save for the mandatory Kiroshi Optics implant from the start of the game.

Adding to their surprise, their brother also didn't touch Cyberpunk 2077 attribute points, spending exactly zero of them over the course of his run. Elaborating on how this happened, he said "he didn't know how it worked," Anxious_Singer_4823 recalled. The accidental ultra-hardcore run took about 20 hours in total, suggesting the player was mostly focused on finishing the game's main story. This aligns with their final level being just 27, far detached from the game's level cap of 60.

Rushing the Main Quest Made Cyberpunk 2077 All-Natural Challenge Easier

Unbeknownst to the player, focusing on the main quest made his impromptu all-natural challenge a bit easier, because Adam Smasher scales with V's level. While the stat boosts he gets per level aren't major, they are significant enough to make a difference for someone trying to defeat him with no investments in cyberware or attributes. Anxious_Singer_4823 did not clarify on which Cyberpunk 2077 difficulty setting their brother completed the game. However, the all-natural challenge is no mean feat even on the lowest difficulty level.

This unusual story amassed over 24,000 upvotes and emerged on the front page of the game's largest subreddit in late August 2025, much to the amusement of many Cyberpunk 2077 fans. "His Afterlife drink is just a glass of Diet NiCola," joked one user on Reddit, while another remarked he "just played Punk 2077." In all seriousness, this bizarre achievement highlights how flexible CD Projekt Red’s dystopian RPG really is—never forcing players into a specific playstyle, to the point of allowing for some truly unconventional runs, present example included.
