Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty adds a new area to Night City and an unfortunate situation for V to navigate. After saving the President of the NUSA from an assassination attempt, players are swept up in a story of betrayal and political agendas.
Birds With Broken Wings is the eighth mission in the Cyberpunk 2077 DLC, and things get complicated with Songbird and Solomon Reed. As the time comes for players to move to save Songbird, there are a few things to handle first.
Birds With Broken Wings Guide
Birds With Broken Wings starts with V waiting for Reed's call after finishing the You Know My Name mission. Reed will call after one in-game day from the mission's start, so players can take the time to finish up on other quests or skip ahead by sleeping or passing the time using the options menu.
Whenever Reed calls, he tells players to meet at The Moth to go over the plan with Alex inside the bar hideout. Before jumping into the rescue plan, there will be a chance to learn a little more about their history as FIA agents.
Players will need to steal the identities of the Netrunners they met at Hansen's party. The first thing to do is get the tracking information for the twins' transportation. Then, players will take down Hansen and get Songbird.
The only way to get the tracking information is to use the rental companies tracking stations. The one they are going after is located near the Pacifica Serenity Bible Church.
Meet Up With Songbird
After leaving Alex's safehouse, players will receive a call from Songbird asking them to meet up with her between 11:00 PM and 1:00 AM. She will also give them more Relic points. It is recommended to visit Songbird before accessing the transceiver.
Songbird reveals her original plan and her motive for setting up President Myers. The President and Hansen are using her to access beyond the Blackwall in the Net. Songbird asks V to let her escape after rescuing her from Hansen so that they can get the cure, and she doesn't have to be a pawn anymore.
After talking with her, V is encouraged to call Reed and tell him they met with Songbird.
Access the Tracking Station Transceiver
The first transceiver is on the roof of Pacifica Serenity Bible Church. Players can access it stealthily by going around the Eldorado Pawn Shop to the back of the church and climbing up onto it.
Three guards will be on the roof next to the transceiver and a few on the ground. Players can take them out one by one using the various floodlights to cause distractions and throw them into disposal units. Alternatively, they can neutralize everyone in the area right away.
After all the guards are taken care of, V needs to jack into the transceiver and download its data. One station isn't enough data for them to get what they need, and Alex will send the navigation information over for a second transceiver. Players with an Intelligence level of 11 or higher can do a remote link to the second transceiver.
Access the Second Tracking Station Transceiver
The second tracking station is in Santo Domingo, and players can use the fast-travel terminal near the church to get closer. This building is also guarded, so sneaking in or combat are the only two options.
Players can get to the roof by taking the stairs on the side of the building closest to the transceiver and using the air ducts to climb onto the roof. They'll see two kids and a woman passed out on a couch when they do. Players can ignore them and jack into the transceiver, but it isn't online.
The blonde kid named Luka will tell them they must find and reboot the power generator to get the transceiver working. V can accept his help for 1000 Eddies or find the generator independently.
If they accept Luka's help, they will play a game of hot or cold to find it. The generator is pretty close, and players can find it quickly if they turn around and go to the side of the roof closer to the billboard.
V must turn it off to reset it and then wait for it to restart. They can download the second transceiver data once it is running. Reed will send them a text telling them to wait for his call in a couple of hours. Reed calls and then tells V he's got a contact for a Ripperdoc that will install the technology needed for the behavioral implants.
Visit Alex at The Moth
After Reed's call, players can respond to a text from Alex inviting them to meet at The Moth for a drink. This is entirely optional, but players will learn some interesting things about Alex.
Despite Alex being flirty and honest and the pair having the chance to share a drink and dance together, Alex is not a romanceable character. Players can enjoy getting to know her and taking a breather momentarily.
Go to Farida's Clinic
Players can find Farida's Clinic when they are ready to go to the final stages of Birds With Broken Wings. She is located in Golden Pacific. Players can use the intercom to talk to her, and they must choose the "I hear you collect souvenirs from the Unification War," dialogue option to get inside.
Reed is waiting inside and decides to tell V he's come up with his own plan after thinking about it for a while. Myers intends to arrest Songbird after she is out of Hansen's grasp, but Reed wants to help her escape.
He asks V to use a technology called ICEbreaker, which will render Songbird unconscious. Then, he can talk to her once she isn't backed into a corner anymore. V can also tell him what Songbird said when they met earlier.
All players have to do after Reed leaves is get the Cyberware installed by Farida. Johnny will appear, and V can seek advice and insight on what he would do in this situation.
Johnny tells them either way that, there will be a choice between Songbird and Reed, and V must be prepared to make that decision. To finish the mission, players must leave the clinic once Farida is done with them.
