Cyberpunk 2077 features multiple endings with different fates bound to every character involved in V’s orbit. However, there are some characters with more defined endings that should remain untouched for the Cyberpunk 2077 sequel, titled Project Orion from CD Projekt RED.

Cyberpunk 2077: A Complete Guide to Johnny's Relationship

Becoming the best chooms with Johnny Silverhand isn't going to be easy, but knowing exactly what to say in every Cyberpunk 2077 mission will help.

While a Cyberpunk 2077 sequel is years away, there are some characters that should remain off the board when it comes to story and side quests due to their importance in Cyberpunk 2077, and how including them in a sequel could potentially squander the impact that they had in previous stories.

6 Song So Mi

The Tragedy of an FIA Agent Deserves to Be Ambiguous

songbird using her cyberpsycho blackwall attack on v

Songbird’s story mirrors V’s in some ways, and when players meet her in Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty, they will learn of the tragedy that made her the way she is today. Forced into service as an FIA Agent, Songbird has had her body and mind permanently altered with scars from reaching out to the Blackwall, whispering to it until one day the Blackwall whispered back.

Songbird’s story is one of survival, and whether players killed Songbird, returned her to the FIA, or allowed her to escape to the Moon, her story should remain ambiguous to showcase that not every ending in Night City is a happy one, and whether she survives, becomes one with the Blackwall, or is cured, should remain a mystery.

5 Judy Alvarez

Allowing Judy to Move On From Night City is a Natural Course

A screenshot of Judy Alvarez in Cyberpunk 2077.

Of all the characters in Night City, it seems that Judy Alvarez evoked its wrath the most. Her partner and friend, Evelyn Parker took her life in Night City, and the fate of her beloved V remains undecided. With nothing left but scars and bad memories, Judy leaves Night City to go visit her grandparents, and she deserves to move on.

Roping Judy back into Night City for a sequel would be a disservice to her character, as she deserves some peace. No more drama with Dolls and Tyger Claws and mixing with the wrong people. Judy has earned her rest and deserves her time to mourn.

4 Panam Palmer

Panam Deserves to Ride Free With the Aldecaldos

The leader of the Aldecaldos, Panam Palmer was a hot-head, and she may very well still be a hot-head. However, that’s the exact kind of leader that the Aldecaldos need, and as this group of Nomads finally leave Night City for a brighter future, it would only make sense for their story to end with them riding off into the sunset.

Whether V comes with them, or they head off with the Basilisk tank into a new tomorrow, Panam’s story is so wonderful entwined with V, and her dreams go beyond Night City, so bringing her back into the fold would ask too many questions where it’s better left alone.

3 Goro Takemura

A Lap Dog For Arasaka Should Remain Leashed

Takemura in Cyberpunk 2077

Goro Takemura is loyal to a fault when it comes to serving under the table of Arasaka. Johnny Silverhand summed it up best when he described Goro as a lapdog, and it seems that despite all he has been through under the thumb of Saburo and Yorinobu, he will never change his loyalties, so his fate, whether alive or dead at the end of Search & Destroy, doesn’t matter all that much.

Goro Takemura isn’t an essential pillar of the Arasaka corporation, so it wouldn’t make much sense for him to come back unless the protagonist of the Cyberpunk 2077 sequel does something to evoke the wrath of Arasaka. However, Goro is better left at the service of the Emperor and the CEO, or six feet under.

2 Johnny Silverhand

Johnny’s Story is Entwined With V, and He Should Remain Absent

johnny silverhand explains to v

Johnny Silverhand is a true legend, and his name and music send shivers and adrenaline-fueled revolts through the spines of many. Johnny may have died in 2023, but his spirit lives on in rock, and his digitized consciousness even returned to join V’s story, in which he either joined Alt Cunningham to go beyond the blackwall, was deleted from existence, or started a new life in V’s body.

Cyberpunk 2077: Every Ending, Ranked

Cyberpunk 2077 features a wide range of potential endings, but which of them is the best and most fulfilling end to the experience?

3

All of these endings add layers of ambiguity that shouldn’t be answered by a sequel due to everyone receiving their own canon ending for Johnny. The rocker boy definitely should be mentioned, but to see him return would diminish his story and how integral he was to V.

1 V

The Fate of V Can Be Determined With 5 Outcomes

The main merc, V was the protagonist for Cyberpunk 2077, so it’s no surprise that players would love for them to return in a sequel. However, V’s story has been told elegantly, and the conclusion to their story might not be a happy one, even depending on what ending was chosen, but that doesn’t mean players need closure by hearing of them or even seeing them again in a special mission.

V might have survived Night City and the chip that’s eating away at their brain, or they might be long dead. There’s a layer of hope and optimism there that allows V to remain a Legend of Night City in their absence, so it’s best to leave this plot thread to the mysteries of fans who will never let V fade away.
