This article contains spoilers for Cyberpunk 2077 and Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty.

Mike Pondsmith, creator of the Cyberpunk tabletop RPG that CD Projekt Red's Cyberpunk 2077 is based upon, has urged Keanu Reeves to call him after the Hollywood actor expressed his interest in returning for the currently in development sequel. Reeves portrayed the iconic Johnny Silverhand in the 2020 RPG Cyberpunk 2077, and while the character met his demise in the majority of the game's endings, Reeves has stated that he would love to return as Silverhand in Cyberpunk 2.

Johnny smiles at V

Cyberpunk 2077 has a variety of endings that can be achieved by players, depending on the dialogue paths and choices made over the course of the game. Although CD Projekt Red has never confirmed which of the many endings are canon to the series, it is often thought that the one introduced in Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty, the 2023 expansion, is the "true" ending. If this is the case, it means the character of Johnny Silverhand no longer exists, as the relic is successfully removed from V's head, thus killing Johnny for good.

Cyberpunk 2077 has a multitude of endings worth exploring, but what do each of them do, and what fate can fans expect for V and Johnny?

Cyberpunk Creator Tells Keanu Reeves to Call Him About 2077 Sequel

Earlier this year, Keanu Reeves revealed that he would "love" to reprise his role as Cyberpunk 2077's Johnny Silverhand if given the opportunity. While the Hollywood actor was likely just showing love to the character of Silverhand, as there have been no story details for Cyberpunk 2 revealed as of writing, Mike Pondsmith has said during a new REDStream that Reeves should call him, as he has "ways" to make Silverhand come back from the dead. Pondsmith, who is the creator of the Cyberpunk tabletop RPG that 2077 is based on, was likely just joking, but it's interesting to see that both Reeves and Pondsmith are on board for Silverhand to return.

CD Projekt Red may have multiple projects currently in the works, including the highly anticipated The Witcher 4, but it has long been known that the studio is also working on a sequel to Cyberpunk 2077, currently known as Cyberpunk 2, although this is likely a working title. Very little is known about the project, but it was confirmed back in May that the sequel had officially entered the pre-production phase. CD Projekt Red then revealed in July that a total of 116 developers were actively working on Cyberpunk 2, and 444 were involved in The Witcher 4.

CD Projekt Red Shouldn't Let Its Cyberpunk 2077 2.3 'Disappointment' Impact Project Orion

As The Witcher 4 is clearly CD Projekt Red's top priority, it's likely going to be quite some time until any new details on the Cyberpunk 2077 sequel are shared. However, multiple job listings related to the project suggest that Cyberpunk 2 will feature some form of online multiplayer. This was something that CD Projekt Red originally intended to include in 2077, but the feature was eventually scrapped due to the game's disastrous launch.
