Daemon X Machina: Titanic Scion introduces a new mechanic that functions like a skill tree: Fusion. An interesting aspect of this feature is its downside. Each time you unlock a new skill through Fusion, your character undergoes a mutation.
10 Best Games That Let You Build Mechs, Ranked
Discover the best games that let you build and customize mechs in every detail, from weapons to visuals.
This guide explains how Fusion works in Daemon X Machina: Titanic Scion and how you can use it to unlock the best skill sets. It also includes a list of the top Fusions to prioritize, helping you target the most effective abilities. Even better, it shows how you can remove unusual mutations or even customize them to your liking.
Fusion Mechanics Explained
Fusion is the primary function of the LAB in the Base. Using it, you can unlock new skills in exchange for undergoing a physical mutation. The LAB has several features related to Fusion, explained below.
Gene Factors
A Factor is an Immortal's gene data that lets you unlock new skills. Factors are categorized by rarity and type, and each combination can produce different skill sets.
Activation
Once you have at least one Gene Factor, you can enter the LAB and select Activation to unlock new skills. You can preview the potential skills before committing to the transformation. Activation costs credits and triggers a physical mutation each time.
To farm credits, beginner players in Daemon X Machina: Titanic Scion can repeatedly defeat the current champion of the Coliseum.
Mutation
Whenever an Outer uses the Fusion device, their body reacts to the fused Gene Factors, causing a physical mutation. Repeated Fusion can eventually turn an Outer into an Immortal, though there are ways to prevent or delay this.
Reset Body
If you're unhappy with your current Fusion skill tree, you can pay the required credits in the LAB to reset your Outer. Note that Reset Body removes all unlocked Fusion skills and does not refund the Factors. It should not be seen as a respec system.
Skill Types
There are three types of Fusion skills: Weapon Action, General Action, and Passive.
- Weapon Actions are exclusive to firearms and melee weapons, often adding new strikes to a weapon's move set. Each weapon can carry one of these Fusions.
- General Actions are tied to your mech. You can equip only one GA skill, which often provides ultimate abilities like a heavy kick, mind control, or hacking nearby robots.
- Passive Fusions boost your mech's stats. They can give you extra HP, accelerate Femto regeneration, improve movement, and things like that.
To carry more Passive Skills, which are key for optimizing mech builds, talk to Civetta. Paying her Scraps raises the LAB Level and unlocks extra Passive Skill slots.
LAB Level
Each LAB level increases your Arsenal's Factor and Passive Skill capacity. At Level 3 (max), you can equip 6 Gene Factors and carry Passive Skills up to a total cost of 25. To increase the LAB Level, pay Scraps to Civetta near the Base entrance.
Factor Compendium
The Factor Compendium is an encyclopedia of all Factor Genes and details which enemies drop them. Use it to identify which Immortals carry specific gene strings before farming.
Factor Removal
Civetta also offers a LAB feature that lets you remove Gene Factors before activation. This allows you to discard undesirable gene strings and avoid unwanted Fusion skills.
How to Unlock, Equip, and Unequip Fusion Skills
- Collect Immortal Genes: Enemies may drop DNA strings called Factors. Gather these and return to the Base.
- Activate Factors: With at least one Factor, go to the LAB and select Activation. You can use the "See Skills" button to preview potential skills before committing.
- Equip Skills: In the LAB menu, assign the unlocked Fusion to the appropriate slot. Blue skills go to a weapon, yellow skills to General Action, and green skills to a Passive Skill slot.
How to Customize or Remove Mutations
The simplest way to remove mutations in Titanic Scion is by using the Reset Body feature, though this will erase all unlocked skills. Another option is buying the "Special Outer Outfit" from Civetta. Wearing this armor can overwrite mutations without removing your skills. You can also customize mutations. In the LAB's "Appearance" tab, you have the option to change the color and look of your core transformations, fully embracing your Immortal-like body.
How to Wishlist and Farm Factors
In the Fusion Skill List menu, hover over the Fusion you want to unlock. Press the left joystick on a controller or V on a keyboard to wishlist its Factor string. Then, use the Factor Compendium to identify which enemies drop that DNA string. Once you have the information, hunt down those Immortals and collect their genes. (A glowing icon appears next to them when the genes are on your wish list.)
