Where to Watch Dandadan Season 2
In the US and Canada, Dandadan Season 2 will be available to stream on Crunchyroll, Netflix, and Hulu. Sometimes Disney adds Hulu series to Disney+ internationally, though this doesn’t apply to all anime on the service. Netflix and Crunchyroll will likely stream the series in most of the countries where they operate, but Netflix is available in more countries than Crunchyroll.
At the end of 2024, Bloomberg released an exclusive report about Crunchyroll, alleging, among other things, that the company intentionally didn't promote Dandadan as much as it could because the series was also being streamed on other platforms, despite being the biggest hit in the 2024 Fall Anime Season. At the time, the company did not directly address this issue. Crunchyroll’s current marketing strategy for Dandadan is unclear, but the service will release episodes weekly as they air in Japan.
What to Expect from Dandadan Season 2
Dandadan Season 1 aired from October to December 2024, totaling 12 episodes. It covered about four volumes of the original series, which means the second season will begin with Chapter 33 (the first chapter of Volume 5). Season 2 is expected to follow a similar pacing, covering about 30–40 chapters. It's been confirmed that the new season will also contain 12 episodes. Thus, as mentioned earlier, Season 2 i s expected to finish the Curse House Arc, cover the Evil Eye Arc, and maybe the whole Kaiju Arc, covering from Chapter 33 to Chapter 73 (if it completely covers the Kaiju Arc).
Studio Science Saru is once again in charge of the animation, and Hiroshi Seko is once again the head writer. However, Abel Góngora is co-directing the series with Fuga Yamashiro, who directed the first season. Góngora is a Spanish animator who has worked in the anime industry for several years, and he has directed Scott Pilgrim Takes Off and the episode "T0-B1" of Star Wars: Visions.
Why Is Dandadan So Popular?
It's always difficult to state why a popular series has become popular, since many factors could contribute to its success. In the case of Dandadan, the stunning animation surely helped the anime become a top hit. Another factor is that the series takes a different approach compared to typical Shonen Jump series, not focusing that much on battle action.
Many people enjoyed the series around the world, even more than the production team expected.
— Lin, Shonen Jump+ Editor
Dandadan's unique humor sets it apart from most stereotypical shonen series and blends it with an interesting romantic plot. This way, the series has likely attracted fans who aren't typically interested in "traditional" shonen anime, since a good portion of its success is probably related to its availability on Netflix.
Dandadan is available to read on MANGA Plus in English, Spanish, and several other languages.
