Warning: The following contains spoilers for Dandadan, Episode 12, "Let's Go to the Cursed House", now streaming on Crunchyroll.

Now that Dandadan season 1 is all wrapped up, fans are already gearing up for season 2, which already had a trailer drop along with its release window of July 2025. Momo and Okarun's adventures with perverted aliens and yokai with depressing backstories have just begun.

But what will Dandadan season 2 cover? Well, it's a bit tricky to figure out how far into the story it'll go because the length of the next few arcs varies. It'll most likely have 12 episodes like season 1; and if you think it'll follow the first season's lead and cover three arcs, then season 2 will finish up the Cursed House, Evil Eye, and Kaiju arcs before it's over. However, if you think season 2 will only cover the same number of manga chapters as season 1, then it will only last until the beginning section of the Kaiju Arc.

Jiji-Jin-Enjoji
Dandadan: Who is Jiji?

Among Dandadan's diverse cast of characters, Jiji's eccentric personality stands out. Here's why his story captivates readers.

Cursed House Arc

The Mystery Behind Jiji's Home Continues

The last two episodes of Dandadan season 1 were actually already a part of the Cursed House Arc but were pretty much just the introduction parts. This means that season 2 will hit the ground running since the stage has already been set for some high-octane action and insanity. As a short recap, season 1 ended with Momo being attacked by a group of creepy-looking old men in the hot springs while Okarun and Jiji find a mysterious room filled with talismans in the latter's home.

So, what can you expect from the rest of the arc? Well, if you answered a psychotic family making human sacrifices to a mythical creature known as the Tsuchinoko to prevent a nearby volcano from erupting, then you're right. This leads to Momo, Okarun, and Jiji confronting the Tsuchinoko, which turns out to be a giant man-eating worm monster.

"They used to worship a great snake in this region. When the great serpent that lives in the volcano becomes hungry, the volcano erupts, or so it was believed. In those days, people would present a child from the village as an offering to the serpent to appease its hunger." - A priest telling Momo about the Tsuchinoko

And if that isn't crazy enough, you might remember that the reason they came to Jiji's house in the first place is because he kept seeing an ominous spirit around there. Well, that spirit turns out to be the Evil Eye, a yokai produced from a past human sacrifice, and whose goal is to eradicate humanity. The spirit takes control of Jiji, which gives him the form seen in the Dandadan season 2 trailer. Even crazier is the belief that human sacrifices kept the volcano from erupting turns out to be true. That makes three major threats for Momo and Okarun to deal with at the same time.

The Cursed House Arc will be the longest so far, spanning 23 chapters in the manga. In comparison, the longest manga arc before this is the Serpo Arc, which only lasts for 10 chapters, less than half of the Cursed House Arc. Now, the length of an arc in the manga doesn't directly translate to how long it'll be in the anime. The Turbo Granny Arc, which is only 8 chapters long in the manga, lasted for 5 episodes in the anime, while the Serpo Arc only went on for 3 episodes. Though, that might just be because the Turbo Granny Arc is the first one in the series, so the anime wanted to take its time with the worldbuilding.

Could a Dandadan x Jujutsu Kaisen Crossover Work?

Could Okarun and Yuji Itadori cross paths? Let's examine the viability of a Dandadan x Jujutsu Kaisen crossover.

Evil Eye Arc

The past Arc's Repercussions

Following the events of the Cursed House Arc, the high schoolers return to the Ayase household mostly safely, but Jiji still ends up with a genocidal yokai inside him. So, the entire arc is centered around Momo, Okarun, and their friends trying to free Jiji from the Evil Eye. Eventually, though, Jiji empathizes with the Evil Eye's plight and asks the rest of the group to spare it and give him time to control it. Of course, this being Dandadan, the protagonists will face more than one absurd threat in this arc. You can also expect evil caricatures of classical musicians and an alien house remodeler. Just your typical Dandadan story arc really.

The Evil Eye Arc is far shorter than the Cursed House Arc but is still longer than any of the arcs from season 1 with its 12-chapter run.

Kaiju Arc

Momo and Aira Get More Competition

Dandadan's Kaiju arc will introduce two long-awaited characters in the series, Kinta and Bamora. Also, after two whole arcs, Momo and Okarun finally have a new lead on the latter's missing nut, as rumors point to it being in a haunted apartment complex. However, Okarun's classmate, Kinta Sakata, follows them, trying to find out Okarun's secret to being charming to girls, and chaos ensues. The Kaiju Arc features, as you could probably guess, an incredible Kaiju battle between a giant monster and an equally giant mech. This will also lead to the introduction of a cute alien girl named Bamora who wants to suddenly marry Okarun. Because why not?

The Kaiju Arc is the shortest of the three, being only 11 chapters long. But again, if season 2 will only cover the same number of chapters as it did in season 1, then it might end somewhere near the beginning of this arc.

Dandadan: The Similarities Between Yokai and Aliens

This comparison might not make sense anywhere else, but aliens and yokai (evil spirits) in Dandadan actually have lots of things in common.

Dandadan is now available to stream on Crunchyroll, Netflix, Muse Asia, and several other streaming platforms.
