Dandadan's exciting season 2 concluded on a cliffhanger with a mysterious alien emerging from her Kaiju suit and kissing Okarun without speaking a single word. Even before Ken had the chance to react to the unexpected incident, Momo had the misfortune of witnessing her worst fear. As the camera zoomed in on her shocked face, the explosives that went off behind her mirrored her inner turmoil.
The last shot was the perfect setup for the exciting drama that awaits them in the upcoming season. The season 2 finale adapts up until the Dandadan manga’s 71st chapter, titled “I'm Sick of Robots and Kaiju!” With just two more chapters left in the Kaiju arc, the upcoming installment is set to turn its focus to the Space Globalist arc, the longest storyline in the series. Although not much is confirmed for now, here’s what fans can expect from Dandadan season 3 based on the manga.
Bamora: The Sumerian Who Survived a Genocide
Momo and Okarun’s New Alien Friend is a Survivor of Brutal Invasion
- Sumer Was Colonized by a Militaristic Alien Race
- Bamora’s Tragic Escape From Sumer Had Far-Reaching Consequences
Bamora’s unexpected kiss with Okarun may have perplexed many viewers, but as it turns out, she was just trying to fulfill the purpose that was entrusted to her by her people. Many years ago, she was born on a planet named Sumer, whose inhabitants had developed advanced pyramid technology that allowed intergalactic space travel. Interestingly, the Sumerians were a scientifically advanced race that had also engineered space technology, state-of-the-art weapons, and advanced nanoskin suits. It might sound as if the alien race were sufficiently advanced to protect themselves from any threats, but things took a dark turn when a hostile, militaristic alien species decided to target Sumer.
As the Kur descended upon the Earth-like planet, their overwhelming ruthlessness and brutality were too much for the Sumerians to handle. Soon, Sumer was colonized and most of its resources were snatched, while an overwhelming majority of the people were enslaved. One of the groups that kept fighting back for their homeland adopted Bamora after rescuing her from an almost certain death. While she initially felt emotionally neglected, her new family protected her during a brutal period when the entire planet was actively ransacked and exploited.
Bamora survived quite some time with the few survivors, but when it seemed that Sumer’s last resistance force would eventually fall to the Kurs if they didn’t make a move, they decided to take a chance and put their lives on the line to use the intergalactic space travel technology. But there was one problem. The pyramid where the machine was built was heavily guarded, as most enslaved people were kept in open-air prisons in the region. Despite the overwhelming risk, the handful of surviving members of the resistance put their lives on the line to gain access to the intergalactic space travel machine.
But everything appeared to fall apart as Bamora and another companion, who there realized that only one person could access the intergalactic travel at a time. As the last Sumer child, Bamora was entrusted with the responsibility to find a husband and start a family so that her race would not be completely wiped out. After she was defeated on Earth for the first time and her exosuit was opened, Bamora saw Okarun and felt that he was the one who defeated her. She felt that her search for an ideal partner had finally come to an end, and in an innocent bid to claim Okarun, she kissed him.
Dandadan Season 3 Will Be Focused on the Consequences of War in Sumer
Earth Will Face an Existential Threat from the Same Militaristic Alien Race That Destroyed Bamora’s Home
Okarun and Bamora’s is not going to be as consequential to the story as the cliffhanger might make it seem. Although Momo will naturally hate what happened, Okarun and his friends will invite their new alien acquaintance to their home despite knowing next to nothing about her. Bamora may not speak their language, but she will feel welcome at the Ayase household. The strange meeting will unexpectedly bring Momo’s group closer to Bamora as they slowly gain each other’s trust. Friendship will soon blossom, but the consequences of the brutal colonization in Sumer will chase Bamora to Earth.
Kurs will eventually figure out that Bamora escaped to the blue planet and decide to go after her. But as they understand Earth better, they will soon come to the conclusion that colonizing the resourceful blue planet could be immensely profitable for them. This will set the stage for an epic clash between the Kurs and Okarun’s gang as they engage in a brutal war with humanity’s future at stake. Bamora, who may have felt that she had escaped the wrath of her planet’s colonizers, will find herself at the heart of this conflict as Kurs found Earth because of her.
The Strongest Yokai Will Make Her Debut in Dandadan Season 3
Reiko Kashima Will Go After Momo
- A Yokai Will Terrorize the Ayase Household in the Next Season
- Kashima Will Play a Major Role in Dandadan Season 3
While aliens are set to be the focus of Dandadan’s season 3, one yokai is also going to play a pivotal role. Known as Slit-mouthed Woman, Reiko Kashima will make her debut just a few episodes after Bamora becomes close friends with Okarun and his friends. She is considered by many as the strongest yokai in existence. So, it would be Momo and Bamora’s misfortune that the duo will accidentally run into her. Although they will be able to trick her, they will soon realize that Reiko Kashima does not forgive so easily.
Kashima’s bizarre power and strange antics will add more drama to Dandadan’s season 3. However, Bamora and the invasion of Earth will remain the major conflict around which most of the next installment will revolve around. With an all-out war set to break out on Earth, there will be no dearth of action-packed fight sequences to entertain the fans. It will be interesting to see how Bamora will influence Okarun and Momo’s group.
