  • Possible hint at MCU's Miles Morales in future episodes

Daredevil: Born Again is shaping up to be a thrilling addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, bringing back Matt Murdock for another round of street-level justice. As the series dives deeper into his battles, both in the courtroom and on the streets, each episode is packed with subtle nods, callbacks, and hidden details that longtime fans will appreciate. Episode 3 is no exception, weaving in references to classic Daredevil storylines, past Marvel projects, and even some hints at what’s to come.

From blink-and-you’ll-miss-it visual cues to clever dialogue choices, this episode delivers plenty of Easter eggs that connect Born Again to its comic book roots and the wider MCU. Whether it’s a familiar name mentioned in passing or a subtle nod to pass series and episodes, there are some minor Easter eggs and then some rather big ones that could hint at what’s coming in Daredevil: Born Again and maybe even in the bigger MCU. Here are the biggest Easter eggs that stood out in “The Hollow of His Hand.”

A Hint At A Daredevil: Born Again Villain

While he hasn’t appeared in the new series yet, Muse is coming, sooner or later. And the show managed to remind viewers of that in the most Muse way. By also reminding people that the Punisher is going to pop up at some point as well.

Muse is a street artist who takes a very dark turn, eventually painting with human blood. He’s got some powers that will make him a formidable foe for Daredevil when they ultimately decide to go to battle. A quick shot of a Punisher mural is clearly a nod towards Muse and his eventual arrival in Born Again.

Pingo Doce Is A Classic MCU Thirst Quencher

During a blink and you miss it scene, there is an ad on a bus for Pingo Doce soda. This is becoming quite the legendary drink in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. This soda made the first appearance in The Incredible Hulk when Bruce Banner bleeds into a bottle. This is the soda that a Stan Lee cameo character drinks and gets sick thanks to having a single drop of blood in the drink. It’s also how the government eventually finds out where Banner is hiding and flushes him out.

The Pingo Doce appearance is interesting for a number of different reasons, not the least of which is that it’s yet another reference to the movie, which is actually one of the earliest entries into the MCU that’s come along in the last few months. Captain America: Brave New World is of course not an official sequel, but certainly it’s a continuation of that story. It’s pretty clear with this reference that Marvel wants that movie to be front of mind for fans.

White Tiger’s Replacement Shown In Daredevil: Born Again

It Could Be Either Or Both Of His Family Members

During Hector Ayala’s trial and specifically when talking about how he was in fact, the White Tiger, he talks about living with his sister and niece along with his wife. The moment is meant to be a show of just how good the man is and later on to make it quite sad when he dies. But talking about those two people in particular has more importance than Disney+ viewers might realize.

In the comics, Hector Ayala’s niece, Angela Del Toro is the second White Tiger. As it turns out, his sister is in fact, the third White Tiger. She takes over the amulet from Angela, when Angela is corrupted by The Hand. While it feels unlikely that we’ll see all of these handoffs in this season, but should the show last long enough, perhaps another White Tiger will pick up the amulet and the mask.

Another Hint Towards Another Spider-Man In Daredevil: Born Again

An MCU Miles Morales Hint?

Earlier in the series, Wilson Fisk makes a not so thinly veiled comment about Spider-Man. It’s clear he’s talking about Tom Holland’s Spider-Man in that episode, but it’s entirely possible that “The Hollow of His Hand,” is alluding to another Spider-Man.

During Hector’s trial, Matt Murdock runs through a list of police officers that have gone on the record as being thankful for the White Tiger’s help. Included in that list is an Officer Morales. That would certainly seem to be an allusion to Miles Morales who hasn’t arrived in the MCU just yet, but Marvel has already said he will be at some point. Miles’ father is a police officer in the comics, as well as Sony’s animated version of the stories.

Some might discount the connection because Miles’ dad is usually known as Jefferson Davis, but it’s worth pointing out that in recent comic book stories, he does change his name to Jefferson Morales. It’s possible the Marvel demonstrated in Daredevil: Born Again that this change will be canon when Miles does show up.
