The Daredevil: Born Again trailer premiered at New York Comic-Con 2024. While the preview hasn't been released to the public yet, it leaked online, confirming at least one significant event from the Netflix series is canon.
Daredevil: Born Again marks Charlie Cox's long-awaited return as the eponymous hero nearly 7 years after the character's Netflix series was canceled. While Cox's Daredevil / Matt Murdock appeared in Spider-Man: No Way Home and Marvel Televison's Echo, these were supporting appearances that consisted of a single scene each. The Daredevil: Born Again creative team has been coy about whether or not the Netflix series is MCU canon or if the Disney Plus series will feature variants of the characters fans love from the original show, but the new trailer confirms one Daredevil season 3 event still happened.
At New York Comic-Con 2024, Cox and Kingpin actor Vincent D'Onofrio made appearances to promote Daredevil: Born Again, which dropped its first full trailer and announced a March 4, 2025, release date. Shade Studios' Marissa Hill captured footage of the Daredevil: Born Again trailer, giving fans who couldn't attend the convention a chance to see several fan-favorite characters in action. The Daredevil: Born Again trailer shows White Tiger in costume, Jon Bernthal's Punisher confronting Matt Murdock, and the much-celebrated return of Deborah Ann Woll's Karen Page and Elden Henson's Foggy Nelson. The latter two were fan-favorite characters from the Netflix series and Matt Murdock's closest friends. However, they weren't included in Daredevil: Born Again until the series underwent dramatic rewrites.
Perhaps the most notable moment from the trailer is Daredevil: Born Again's reunion between Matt Murdock and Kingpin. While both characters appeared in different MCU projects, they have yet to share the screen since the Netflix show was canceled. The Daredevil: Born Again trailer shows the two foes meeting at a diner, where Matt Murdock warns Kinpin that he will be there if the crime lord steps out of line. Kingpin responds by asking if Matt Murdock is the one delivering the warning or if it's his "darker half," seemingly confirming that he knows Daredevil's true identity. This implies Kingpin discovering Daredevil's secret identity at the end of the Netflix show's third season is canon to the MCU.
On the other hand, Kingpin could have discovered Daredevil's secret identity in a different way in the MCU. Perhaps Marvel Studios will play fast and loose with what's canon by counting events from the Netflix series if necessary but not being beholden to them if Daredevil: Born Again wants to head in a different direction. There are only roughly 4 months until Daredevil: Born Again hits Disney Plus, so fans will find out soon enough.
Daredevil: Born Again will be released on Disney Plus on March 4, 2025.
