Developed by Bluehole Studio, Dark and Darker Mobile hopes to bring the intense and challenging dungeon crawler experience of Ironmace's dark fantasy RPG to Android and iOS devices. The ambitious port's first beta test was hosted in April, attracting more than 50,000 participants despite only being open to Android users in South Korea. Fortunately, the development team, which is eyeing a late 2024 global release for Dark and Darker Mobile, has recently provided more details regarding the second beta test that will finally be available in other regions.

Dark and Darker Mobile's second beta test will run between August 1 and August 11, Production Director Joonseok Ahn revealed in a new development blog posted on YouTube. Even though it is being labeled as a global beta test, this upcoming trial will only be available for Android and iOS users in Japan, South Korea, Turkey, and the US. The second beta test will mark the debut of Dark and Darker's powerful Wizard class in the mobile version, as well as a new village system that will allow players to fish and cook using ingredients found in the game. This build will also feature balancing tweaks to weapons, items, and classes that are expected to provide a richer and more strategic gameplay experience.

Eligible Android users interested in joining the second beta test can register until July 31, while those on iOS devices have until July 29 to sign up. All the participants of the upcoming beta test will receive 20,000 Platinum Coins worth $145, according to the registration website. Acting as Dark and Darker Mobile's premium currency, Platinum Coins have a higher value than the game's more commonly used gold. In comparison, Dark and Darker utilizes Silver Coins, Gold Coins, and a paid currency called Redstone Shards.
In the latest development blog, Project Manager Woojoo Seon mentioned that the team has plans to add more classes from the original Dark and Darker, such as the Bard, Warlock, and Druid, to the mobile version. Bluehole Studio is also preparing new maps that will allow players to better utilize these aforementioned classes in the mobile version of Dark and Darker.
Dark and Darker Mobile only has six classes — the Barbarian, Cleric, Fighter, Ranger, Rogue, and the upcoming Wizard — compared to the desktop release's nine. In a past interview, Ironmace said that Dark and Darker was initially planned to have 13 classes.
