The Soulsborne series of games by FromSoftware has gotten plenty of praise for its unforgiving combat, unique sense of storytelling, and plenty more. Elden Ring is further proof of that success, as the game received an incredibly positive reception from fans and critics alike. With so much attention being placed on the Soulsborne games, they of course have an active modding community, with fans doing anything from making Elden Ring easier to giving Dark Souls 3 a DLC-sized mod complete with a load of new elements.Dark Souls Archthrones is the latest expansion-sized mod for Dark Souls 3, giving players an alternate story to the one found in the main game, along with five unique worlds to explore. Lothric will also be getting a bit of an overhaul in this Dark Souls 3 mod, along with some other famous Dark Souls locations. It is clear that the development team for Dark Souls Archthrones has been ambitious with this creation, as shown by the new screenshots from the mod that were recently unveiled. In time, the team hopes to bring in more enemies, new quests, and other additions to Dark Souls Archthrones before it eventually releases.

Something that fans may spot from the screenshots provided by the mod team is that Dark Souls Archthrones does have a clear Demon's Souls influence. Due to this, things like a world layout and soul form will be available in Dark Souls Archthrones. So far, the development of the mod has been ongoing for over two years, but it still seems like the team working on Archthrones has plenty to do. On the mod's Patreon page, its developers consistently discuss how it can be polished further.

There are other expansion-sized mods for Dark Souls 3 that players can enjoy while waiting for Archthrones. Recently, one mod sought to give the game a Bloodborne overhaul, complete with mechanics from the 2015 title. Also, there is Dark Souls 3 Convergence, a mod that is being hailed by fans as a continuation of the series, essentially giving them something akin to Dark Souls 4.
