Dark Souls Fan Shows Off Mimic Cosplay

A talented Dark Souls fan is being lauded by thousands of fellow fans of the series after posting an admirable cosplay of a Mimic, specifically the one from Dark Souls 3. The elaborate costume, which includes plenty of detail for quite a high level of realism, appears to be making quite a splash with Dark Souls' online fanbase.

A staple enemy in the original Dark Souls trilogy, Mimics take on the classic form of treasure chests, sprouting gangly limbs and eagerly trying to consume players who wish to take their contents for themselves. The appearance frequency of Mimics seemed to have steadily decreased with each Dark Souls entry, with the series' spiritual successor Elden Ring essentially omitting the enemy type altogether. While somewhat of an alternative is offered in the form of Elden Ring's Mimic Tear boss, traditional Mimics are missed by many fans, which could be a driving factor in the impressive cosplay below.

The impressive Dark Souls 3 Mimic cosplay comes from a Reddit user with the handle of uyumilky, who posted their impressive creation to an unofficial page for FromSoftware, the developer of Dark Souls. The post features not only the impressive Mimic cosplay, but also a cosplay of the Fire Keeper, considered to be one of the best Dark Souls characters in the franchise. The first slide features a humorous dance of the Mimic alongside a clapping Fire Keeper, with the second slide a still photo of the cosplay in all of its highly-detailed glory.

With over 13,000 upvotes at the time of writing, it's safe to say the cosplay is a hit with Dark Souls fans at large. Comments on the post reveal fans' curiosity about how the cosplay creator managed to achieve such realistic textures on the tongue and chest, and that the wearer actually can't see out of it, making a humorous pairing considering the Fire Keeper is also entirely lacking sight. Fans also noted this was the first cosplay they'd seen of a Mimic from the series, with characters like Solaire or Artorias being more common Dark Souls cosplays.
