Dark Souls 3’s speedrunners continue to surprise the community, and now one of them has managed to set an incredible world record by finishing the game in 24 minutes and 57 seconds. Speedrunners and hardcore players can make even a challenging and unforgiving game like Dark Souls 3 look like a joke, pulling off feats that seem ridiculous to achieve for the average player.
There are plenty of reasons why FromSoftware’s games are iconic, though it’s fair to say that their unique difficulty is one of them. While there are plenty of challenging games out there, Dark Souls' punishing gameplay became so popular that it even gave birth to its own game genre: the Soulslike. Although Elden Ring features many elements that resemble Dark Souls 3, leading many to say it's just Dark Souls 4, the third entry was officially the latest in the series and also the most acclaimed by fans. Dark Souls 3 introduced iconic boss fights that required players to not only exercise patience but also improve their gaming skills. While average players may take between 31 to 34 hours to finish the main story and defeat all the game’s challenging bosses, one speedrunner has made this number look ridiculous.
The 32 Best Dark Souls 3 Mods, Ranked
There are a lot of great Dark Souls 3 mods out there. Here's a look at some of the best mods available for the challenging title.
Dark Souls 3 Speedrunner Finishes Game in 24 Minutes 57 Seconds
The speedrunner known as Olzku has completed Dark Souls 3 in 24 minutes and 57 seconds, implementing a new route. Taking advantage of some game glitches, the player managed to move faster through the different Dark Souls 3 areas, avoiding most enemies and taking down bosses as quickly as possible.
Olzku's feat seems wild compared to other Dark Souls 3 speedrun records achieved in the past, though finishing the game fast is not the only impressive accomplishment that players have managed to pull off. There have been players who have tried completing the game in the most bizarre ways, like a hardcore gamer who recorded themselves beating every boss using their feet.
Naturally, players taking on these self-imposed challenges can also be found in other FromSoftware games. Recently, one Elden Ring player managed to finish the game by killing more than 200 bosses without directly attacking any of them, using a build that damaged enemies every time they dodge-rolled.
As impressive as Olzku's record is, the speedrun community never seems to stop, so it shouldn’t come as a surprise if the record is broken at some point in the future, either by Olzku or someone else. While FromSoftware’s hardcore players keep chasing these records, it’ll be interesting to see what they can accomplish in the company’s latest game, Elden Ring Nightreign.
