The Soulslike genre has evolved a lot over the last decade, with From Software's efforts influencing many games. While fans have been anticipating Elden Ring, there are plenty of other games that may catch the attention of some. One of these titles is Bleak Faith: Forsaken, helmed by the creative duo Miso Vukcevic and Mirko Stantic of indie team Archangel Studios. Much like other games inspired by Dark Souls, it is a game focused on exploring a vast interconnected world, warding off threats in difficult combat scenarios.
The first gameplay trailer of Bleak Faith: Forsaken was shown off a few years ago, with pre-alpha footage showing the player slashing their way through a series of narrow corridors, mixing it up with wide-open areas. The premise is a bit more distinct than other Soulslike games, taking more of a cybergothic setting, where the player has to discover the last remnants of a civilization and its history. The developers released a brief video showcasing a boss fight that players will encounter in the game, along with how the gameplay has been polished.
This video of Bleak Faith: Forsaken shows off the player facing off against a cybernetic Dragon-like boss, as seen with its metal skeleton and tattered wings. Known as the Silicon Visage, according to the video, it can attack using either its wings, claws, tail, or even charging right at the player. It is also capable of flight, and can summon lasers to attack as well. These can take form as balls that chase after the player, beams that rain down from the sky, or even a traditional mouth cannon laser.
As the battle progresses, the Silicon Visage can be seen splitting up into smaller versions of itself when it takes enough damage. Some of the combat abilities the player can use were also shown off, with a build that seems to rely on ice-type attacks and magic. During the fight, the player demonstrates the ability to dodge out of the way, while leaving a trail of ice behind them to damage the boss, along with a series of spells that can create spikes of ice around them.
Much like other Dark Souls games, difficult bombastic boss fights such as this will be found as players ascend Bleak Faith: Forsaken's Omnistructure. There are plenty of ways that one can approach these fights, as the game will feature RPG Progression and Classes that can be tailored to suit a certain playstyle. More progress on this game can be seen by following either the game's official Discord server or Twitter account.
Bleak Faith: Forsaken will launch on PC in Q2 2022.
